Prospect Info: Tom Willander: 11th Overall 2023 Draft (Rogle BK J20) - Part 02

I dont get Dhaliwal trying to push this narrative about Bonuses?
when Friedman says the complete opposite saying $600k is a bullish measure of his season

the maximum A is 4 categories............... If he reaches them then good for him. $850K
1) Blocked Shots
2) End-of Season All Rookie Team (Zeev Buium, and Nikiskin are favorites)
3) 25 assists
4) TOI top 4 on team
Those are the ones I think he could reach IMO. But you have to reach them. These aren’t SB’s

Willander isnt getting schedule B........... you could be the biggest homer in history. Willander aint reaching that. The calder is a long shot. He just doesnt have the offensive game, and that voting has never in rewarded a player like willander. Brock faber was close , but again, didnt win, didnt get that bonus and he was like 50 points as a rookie. If Tocchet is our coach that is a wild guess for his season. Oh he did I’d live with the consequences as they are rough ($2.5 max)

Like just include and live with the results as it is goodwill. But strong arming a prospect just creates tension like Marner who came for blood in not including them when his teammate got them, and damn near every 1st round prospect gets them. But again they have to reach them. They aren’t given. And Marner had maybe the greatest D+1 season in recent memory, well him and Pettersson are tied.

I know OEL buyout still lingers, but you have to be crazy confident in Willander as a prospect on those maxing.

it's not about the dollars it's about cap. the bonuses go on the cap as long as they are possible to achieve no matter how unlikely

yeah, but cap space and bonus pools get weird for callups. it's not something you can just ignore
I think outsude of Bedard, Celebrini, nobody accounts for those bonuses because it’s like near 100% irrelevant.

Considering how you feel about Willander, it’s funny that you are not the one arguing that those bonuses should just be ignored.

what? i think they should give them to him. i just think the reason they are reluctant is cap related not because they are trying to nickel and dime him to save money

I mean it doesn’t matter to the cap because you just defer it and it will never trigger because the odds of him winning the Calder is like zero.

He's still not getting schedule B's over the life of his ELC

if he did it would be a pretty amazing thing
if they can't manage a bonus of that size on schedule A, their cap analyst is complete idiot.

I could be wrong here but I think the Canucks would be pushing back on that as if they give him these bonus incentives then those count against the cap so even if there is no way he is going to reach them they have to include close to a million against the cap that they could be allocating elsewhere........i think that is why there could be the issue between the Nucks and his agent

So I listened to the willander interview, and i like to trust my instinct on things, they seem to be right more often then wrong.

Now it could really be as how he is saying, he just wants to focus on the frozen four and the tournament.

But his answer when asked about Vancouver, and how he answered it, especially the last part.
Man, I just got a really bad feeling honestly, Even tho the words came out fine, and it could just be his personality and how he is, but he seemed to have a genuine lack of excitement in his answers, especially the one about the Canucks.

Just keeping an eye on this honestly.

It's always interesting how we can interpret things differently because I just listened to that and didn't feel any of this at all.

To me - he sounded very humble, mature, well spoken and focused. Didn't get any negative vibes at all

I posted a couple of weeks ago that a great buy low (relatively) center candidate is Peyton Krebs.

He can kill penalties, is reliable defensively and has added a feisty shit disturber element to his game…

…he’s on a great contract for 1 more season.

The ‘get me the hell out of Buffalo’ wild card is also in play.

Since I posted that he’s put up 3 goals and 3 assists in his last 5 games. Hopefully he will go quiet the rest of the season.

The risk is low and the reward high. I’d love to see us acquire him.

Don't we have a similar player in Raty?

Yeah, it’s certainly interesting, I guess we’re gonna find out soon

What are you suggesting, he plays out his 4 years and goes to free agency?

My read on the interview is that he's just being careful. He knows he's signing in Vancouver once BU gets eliminated--but doesn't want it to be a distraction as his team faces it's biggest game of the season.

Given the rich history of Swedish superstars playing for the Vancouver Canucks over the years, it's hard to believe he wouldn't be pumped about joining the program.

Besides, aren't the Canucks player development people in constant contact with all their draft picks--particularly those in the NCAA? I'm assuming he's had a lot of interaction with Canucks front office already, and has attended the last two development camps.

Obviously, I hope I’m wrong but, if he does not sign this year, there’s a even higher chance he’s gonna get traded.

Let’s just keep an eye on this

Interviews with guys still playing the season out in College will have them avoiding talk about contracts. Just easier to avoid then invite NCAA trouble. Under the NCAA regulations I don't believe they are allowed to have agreed even verbally to a deal. Nor can he have an official agreement with an agent in place to do such a deal. He should sound non-committal because he HAS to be non-committal.

They changed this part since it was obviously stupid to call their agents "advisors".

Fair enough. It's still just simpler to come off as non-committal until the season is done.

This will be answered very quickly. Either he is signed after the Frozen Four and sent to Abbotsford or we can then talk about him being traded.

Sure but the problem is that we need a legit top 6 center, got plenty of guys who can play on the bottom 2 lines already but none of them are long term fits for top 6 except EP40 really.

Best player in the game by far Hutson.

Lane held onto the puck more, but Cole is as dangerous when he has it. And he has dirty/chippy side to his game.

Willander as usual very quiet in the game. His skating is so smooth that he looks like he's gliding and still keeping up. Again want him to be more physical around the net- he's not going to be an offensive producer in the NHL.

Another year in the NCAA would stall his development, he needs to play against pros next year whether thats in the NHL or AHL.
