So that bad defending was deceptive—injuries and a lack of effort, rather than a serious systems problem?

No they are bad at defending as the pairing are changing every weekend it seems like with injuries and inconsistencies.

But they play BC their primary rival and one a top 3 team in the Nation on Monday night

This game just seems kind of pedestrian
As it it is I. The middle of the beanpot

Announcers said they didn’t look interested and were probably looking ahead.

Is Celebrini back, or is he still one of the injured?

Again, must be the goaltending, holding BU to one regulation goal.

what's your point here?

bu played terribly and generated nothing except a couple times cole hutson did some magic. merrimack also played bad but that's because they are bad

bu is outcoached almost every game they play, they play scrambly, ugly hockey in both ends and it's shameful a team where like half the roster was drafted in the 3rd round or better (willander and eiserman in the first, bednarik, hutson, hughes, yegorov and greene in the 2nd, mccarthy, kaplan and svoboda in the 3rd, plus boumedienne will be a top 100 pick in july with an outside chance zetterberg is too) can lose to an unranked program like merrimack and look bad doing it

pandolfo is a terrible coach. if bu didn't have the best recruiting class in the nation year after year they'd be an unranked program too

Just trying to follow:

BU played terribly. Their defense is terrible. Their systems are terrible.

But Merrimack is terrible. But they must have had lots of chances, otherwise, the claim that BU's defense looked terrible makes no sense. BU's defense is terrible, so bad that they allowed a terrible team to generate lots of chances.

But Merrimack scored only once in regulation. Are they so terrible that they don't even score when given lots of chances by a terrible defense (also a team apparently undermanned because of injuries)? That seems unlikely. So BU probably got good goaltending.

More mysterious than my point is your point. It's anybody's guess as to why you and one other poster want to discuss BU, on the Canucks board, in the Willander thread, rather than in the NCAA discussion forum. You have little interest in Willander. Was he on the PK this game? Who was he paired with? Was he in on BU's lone goal? You don't want to say. You won't even note whether Canucks draftee Celebrini played. Some weird passive-aggressive #$%$ going down.

Serious question: why are you posting about BU here and not in the NCAA discussion?

fair enough

celebrini was injured a few weeks ago and was expected back by now but still isn't playing. pandolfo hasn't mentioned him in the last few postgames so who knows if he's healthy or not. probably not

willander once again looked like the 5th or 6th best player on the ice. he lacks intensity and play dies on his stick. hopefully it's a motivation issue and not an effort or skill issue but i don't see how anyone ranks this player as a top prospect based on his play at bu this season

You're consistent; I'll give you that.

My other questions about Willander? Or is his play so bad that it's irritating to go into details that are, in relation to his poor play, irrelevant to you?

he was on ice for merrimack's lone power play goal. bu split their penalty killing pretty evenly. only really boumedienne doesn't regularly kill penalities. hutson doesn't pk much either but i think that's more due to his usage than him being bad at them

willander was also on ice for bu's lone goal but wasn't involved in the play

he started the game paired with hutson on the top pairing but finished it playing with boumedienne on the second pairing. there were lots of ad hoc pairings though because there were 7 power plays in the game
