Whenever i tune into BU's games last year/this year, the McCarthy bros just simply look horrid.

Nice takeaway and clear from Willander on the PK.

Skating remains a standout trait.

Should pick up a secondary PP assist on BUs second goal.

I feel the same way for Boumedienne

just zero strength considering this age group of NCAA athletes

Willander had 1 PP assist, 2 shots, and was +2 in BU's 7-1 win over Harvard. The assist came on the game-winning goal, early in the second.

It looks like Koskenvuo was brought in to start the third. He stopped 9 of 10. Perhaps he'll get some more action based on that outing.

Aiden Celebrini didn't dress for BU.

The final, between BU and Boston College, will be played on Monday, February 10, 4:30 pm Vancouver time.

he always had other players at BU that have more puck skills making the plays. His offense was never his main thing, expecting over 30 points in the NHL will be a tall order.
He's basically the RH version of MP with better skating. I think it makes sense to keep him in the AHL next season first to give him more opportunity to develop in order to maximize his ceiling.

So why isn't he producing more
First year he played behind Lane Hutson, a truly dynamic offensive talent. They tried to pair them but it didn’t work so Willander stayed on the second pairing and quarterbacked PP2. This year, it’s the same story but now with the younger Hutson brother who is every bit as dynamic as Lane. So, again, back to PP2.

The fact of the matter is, Tom Willander is just not a very dynamic offensive player. He has a good point shot and he can move the puck up ice with aplomb. But in an unstructured environment where BU tries to outscore all its problems, the Hustons get the lions share of offensive opportunities.

that was my best case scenario too, but the need up here for him is just too great, and its not going to really hamper his development since you can be sure he will get ice time up here knowing how much they value him. Why not get started early to learn from Foote and Gonchar? The reality is, we need him up to speed in 25-26 already with the window open and Hughes playing all world, no time to be Yzerman patient.

Some players will play better with structure as a pro vs with their amateur clubs. NCAA teams are about winning, not developing players for the next level.

I think Willander's decision to leave Sweden for the NCAA was a good decision but I believe he chose poorly which team to join. He should have selected a team with less offensive tools in the pipeline so he didn't have to play second fiddle.

BU's lack of structure and system also hasn't helped him, Willander looked much more impressive at the WJCs. Even a WJC system that was thrown together for a 2-3 week long tournament that was being used by players that don't play together regularly looked better than BU's system that is supposed to be used for an entire season.

i just don't think whatever the f*** BU is doing is that great for him developmentally this year. I think spending maybe half a season in the A where he is the guy and being allow to experiment and try things, fail and learn with support will be good and can increase his ceiling.

I don't think we want him to be trying stuff and making mistakes at the NHL level and if he does that he'll get benched and that'll just make him be more conservative. Let him take the DPetey path.

That’s the hope. Don’t get me wrong, I think Willander has a long NHL career ahead of him. But there was hope that he would develop his offensive skills at BU. But whether it was due to circumstances, team system or otherwise, it hasn’t really worked out that way.

I would be surprised if he touches the "A" at all, when he skates for Vancouver, I believe hes here for good.
