Kuhnackl was an import pick by the Windsor Spitfires in 2009 (I believe). He came over from Germany at the start of the 2010/2011 season.
He's a bigger kid, about 6'2 180ish, with good speed and a wicked shot. While he struggled a bit early, getting adjusted to the North American game, he steadily progressed his game. He wound up with 39 goals in 65 or so games and became one of Windsor's biggest threats.
He's known for his nasty slap shot from the face-off circle, and used it several times on the PP, beating goaltenders high glove on more than a few occasions. He also has a nose for the net, scoring the winner in game seven against Erie on a beautiful move in the crease.
What about his physical game? He's not going to go looking for fights, but he'll hit and his frame pretty well. He dropped the gloves once or twice this year, though I remember once for sure when he stuck up for our other import, Khokhlachev, in London (lost the fight, but gained a ton of respect).
Pittsburgh will enjoy him in a few years.
