The point isn't just the outcome of the games, the point is to develop the Kings best prospect. And yeah, he was a healthy scratch for a while, but I do think that working/practicing with and playing against actual NHL players under his eventual NHL coach will teach him more than spending a handful of games in Manchester doing what he has already been doing for the past couple years. I know you don't believe in that "practice nonsense" but, suffice to say, I think you're way wrong on that.
Yes that's the new argument nowadays..practicing and learning with the boys. We have rarely seen that kind of stuff in hockey in the past decades but I guess this is the new sensation. Grigorenko has probably learnt a lot as well, so much that the Sabres wasted one year of his entry level contract. I call it; not fully NHL ready. They would have loved to sent him down to the AHL if it was possible.

That would have burned a year of his contract anyway. Anyone playing in the AHL on an entry level contract is using those years up.

The only exception is guys going back to JR hockey.

Example" Linden Vey has not set foot on an NHL roster, he has already burned two years off his Entry level contract.

Rarely in the past decades have teams owned the entire chain. Now that is common. Think about it most teams can now control the development of a player from the very start of their professional carrier. Start them in the system that is used by the NHL club so if they get called up they don't need to learn a new system. Just learn how to play with and against much better players.
It might be newer but that doesn't make it any worse than what has been done in the past. Not saying it's any better either. But different in and of itself doesn't make it bad.

I was talking about Grigorenko and if he would have been "AHL" eligable. They made the mistake to keep him on their NHL roster because he didnt have much left to learn in juniors, but it didnt pan out. I know Toffoli in the AHL is on an entry level contract anyway and that it doesnt matter.
