Yeah sorry not everyone is against "cancel culture". There's no way the HOF would want that PR shit show and Toews showed he's not deserving. You're going to see people like Bobby Hull being removed in the next 10-20 years.

Price might have value in that he might be a LTIR by some point next season.

If he's just going to be hurt here and there and ok, or worse when playing then the hawks say f*** no.

Toews for Price? Same Cap Hit at $10.5M. Toews UFA after next season. Price for 4 more years.

Plus or Minus on either side?

My original thought is:

MTL could use a veteran C who can be re-signed for around $4-5M on a longer-term deal. So, they add Poelhling, Kidney and 3rd in 2022.

CHI adds Beaudin and Kurashev

Roast away!!!
Sure why not LOL...

No team is going to take Toews. He's going to get blacklisted for his lack of integrity in the scandal. Not only did he not defend his team mate, he also lied and said he knew nothing as the leader of the team. Guy ruined his chance of getting into the HOF too.
Not going to make light of the incident but that is a silly take right there pal. Toews, just 20 months older than Beach turned 22 during that playoff run. Not exactly the veteran leader yet.
How has the issue impacted the legacy of the teams veteran leadership (Hossa, Campbell, Madden and Sharp)?

I imagine Montreal would have to retained base on Contracts

Toews 50% retained for Price 50% retained . I still don't see Chicago taking on the extra years
With time to think I am starting to like this. We need goalie and hot Price would give Blackhawks playoff hockey and cold Price would be no different than our current goalies. Too bad Canadiens would benefit from hot Price as well.

Extra years would still cost Canadiens for good prospect(s) or pick(s).

Before any discussion can happen about Price, his situation must clarify : is he a) going to be LTIRed soon ? in which case nobody is going to be happy paying his salary anyway b) does he come back to his old self ? in which case somebody may take a shot at him or c) does he come come back and plays bad ? in which case MTL is screwed for the next four years.

Given the current risk, I don't believe CHI does this and I believe MTL should take this and run. (Habs fan)

He was the captain. He was very clearly seen as a leader.

Again, during that season Toews was 21 (turned 22 during the playoffs).
That you insinuate he had the maturity level to deal outwardly with such a serious issue is laughable. I put you in the same group as those blaming Beach (he was 20 when it happened).

He doubled down saying he knew nothing about it and still hasn't apologized for his inactions. Even the apology he did issue said "well I'm sorry it happened". He still praised Bowman and Coach Q. Even if you forgive him as a 21 year old he's established he doesn't actually care about what happened and sees it as inconvenient his friends got fired.

Maybe your Leafs will grab him (Price) when then shown the door early again?
