Toews for Price? Same Cap Hit at $10.5M. Toews UFA after next season. Price for 4 more years.

Plus or Minus on either side?

My original thought is:

MTL could use a veteran C who can be re-signed for around $4-5M on a longer-term deal. So, they add Poelhling, Kidney and 3rd in 2022.

CHI adds Beaudin and Kurashev

Roast away!!!

Yikes, no. Chicago jut needs to wait another year, they are clearly in the bottom-out phase of a rebuild, doesn't matter at all cap-wise as they aren't competing.

MTL gains a HOF C, NHL player in Kurashev, and a former first-round pick in Beaudin. Beaudin and Kurashev both played in the Q.

CHI takes on a possible HOF LTIR contract but gambles that Price can play the next 4 years. Poelhing, Kidney, and a 3rd adjust for the gamble. Prospects that could help the CHI rebuild.

Both sides its a gamble

Absolutely not from this Hawks fan.

We have to deal with Toews' huge cap hit for just one (ONE) more season. No reason to exchange that for an additional three years.

Plus, I like our goaltending duo and want to see them return next season; perfect tank commanders. Carey Price would just screw things up.

Also, whose kidney are we getting in this hypothetical trade? Price's, I'm guessing?

I kinda get the idea but this trade makes absolutely no sense for two rebuilding clubs. Even less so for Chicago since the Toews contract ends sooner.

Thanks for not considering the Hawks needs when you put this together.
Hawks are getting the MUCH longer anchor contract AND giving up the better prospects.

Whatever you’re smoking, I want some.

Habs are rebuilding, why do they want to trade one old declining player for another one?

Same can be said from hawks point of view

At this point, the NHLs best Toews plays for the Avs. Take the effort to spell out Jon’s first name next time. It’s like four extra key strokes.

Price having 3 more years than him seems like too much to me. I do think his career ends on LTIR before the end of it though.

  Yeah Carey Price is going to waive his NMC for a team that's heading for a rebuild, Why would Price do that? Bad and Price and Toews nix the deals.

I imagine Montreal would have to retained base on Contracts

Toews 50% retained for Price 50% retained . I still don't see Chicago taking on the extra years

Montreal is most likely going to swim or sink with Price.

Price has a full NMC. He is not moving unless he wants to. I don't see Chicago being a place he would currently move to as they are trending down.

No team is going to take Toews. He's going to get blacklisted for his lack of integrity in the scandal. Not only did he not defend his team mate, he also lied and said he knew nothing as the leader of the team. Guy ruined his chance of getting into the HOF too.
