Yep cause points are all that matter in the game of hockey.
In reality, whats the only thing the separate the 2 players?...offensive production...which I would give the edge to Kopitar throughout their careers.

Yeah, the new captain needs a shakeup. What?
Kopi has been playing very well, the production just hasn't started to tick yet. His shooting % will catch up soon.
Neither team does this, it's pretty much the most pointless trade...two captains of cup winning franchises and Kopitar is the identity of the Kings personified. The biggest difference between the two players is country of origin.
Hasn't kopitar been a slow starter for a couple of years now. I remember seeing is kopitar done threads last year. He always seems to bounce back and get 70ish pts (pretty amazing with the system he's playing in). Both toews and kopitar imo are around the same level currently. Top 15 players that may crack the top 10. There contracts could be brutal if they decline bad but I don't think that will happeal for atleast 4 years
Yeah he always starts a bit slow but usually goes over PPG the rest of the season to catch up.
THis year in particular he's looked fantastic but just isn't getting points, part of which is likely a function of extended time with Dwight ****ing King. He'll be fine.
I get the feeling the OP just wanted to dump a gasoline canister in a room full of Hawks and Kings fans, light a match, and walk away, but I don't think he realizes the respect both teams have for the other player.
You do know the difference in contracts is 500,000 per right. So both contracts are pretty much the same.
I think a lot of people are confused about the contracts, but even so, Kopitar is younger (slightly) and cheaper (slightly) while being equivalent, if not better, so there really would be no reason for LA to do this trade. In a vacuum Chicago would do it, but as others have mentioned, the optics of trading your cup-winning captain in his "prime" aren't very good.

What gives you that impression? I read the kings board regularly, so I can confidently say that I do read people trashing Kopitar at times. I'll admit that I don't spend much time reading about or watching the hawks, but I do have a general understanding of Towes game and what he brings. I just saw similar players making similar money on similar contracts that haven't been playing to what fans perceive as to be best of their abilities. I think swaps usually work out for both parties. When I started this thread I was thinking of the Hossa and Heatley exchange, and how that worked out for both teams. People say that Kopitar and Towes are the face of the franchise, and I agree with that, but let's not forget that Alfredsson played for the wings and Sundin played for Vancouver. I just though it would be an interesting swap that could potentially be good for both teams. I guess that makes me a troll.
