Kopitar needs a shakeup and Chicago would be wise to trade Toews after his hot start when his trade value is probably as high as it going to be moving forward.

Is the value roughly even?

Yeah, the new captain needs a shakeup. What?

Kopi has been playing very well, the production just hasn't started to tick yet. His shooting % will catch up soon.

Neither team does this, it's pretty much the most pointless trade...two captains of cup winning franchises and Kopitar is the identity of the Kings personified. The biggest difference between the two players is country of origin.

Care to expand on this?

I think it help LA short term, and is a wash long term. I think it's a wash short term for Chicago, but helps in the long run.

Kopitar produces in a ubar defensive system He plays a strong 200 foot game Is better suited to play in Sutter system I don't think Toews would do as well playing for sutter Also i am a huge Kopitar fan and don't want to see him go anywhere He just resigned and huge deal Also he's cheaper cap hit

Kopitar is the better player in my opinion, though I'm sure it could be argued either way.

LA clearly wouldn't do this because they would be taking on Toews' ridiculous contract which would cripple their cap while simultaneously alleviating Chicago's. I don't even know if they could take on that extra money even if they wanted.

agreed - I'm a neutral fan, if I'm looking for a comparable for either of these guys it's the other one of these guys.

Looks like a switch just to alienate one of both franchise's all-time best players to make sure they both don't want to come to alumni stuff after they retire

Seems like a lockable thread if there ever was one, no?

You are aware Toews only makes 500k more for one less year right? I don't see how 500k can possibly get the Hawks out of cap trouble or "cripple" the Kings.

Anyway neither team touches this deal. Pretty ridiculous proposal.

Ha, I thought he was more in the Stamkos range for some reason.

Both teams just need more and better quality depth up front. Their contracts have made it harder to do that.

No thanks. Toews is better, I mean, everyone on this board likes to go by small sample sizes..

Toews 10pts in 13GP
Kopitar 6pts in 12GP

no way LA does this. Not only is he the better player (by quite a margin), he has the much better contract. With Chi's cap issues, they would be all over this if emotions were kept away.

This is dumb and neither team would touch this. How in the hell does Kopitar need a shakeup? He leads the Kings in scoring every year and is one of the best defensive centers in the game. Both team will be more than happy to keep their guy.

You do know the difference in contracts is 500,000 per right. So both contracts are pretty much the same.
