Toews 100% committed to come back

People would look at it like a stain on his legacy if he comes back for a season and looks awful. Not me. Not people who loved him as a player during his prime. But people absolutely would.

I bet half the fans forget he even attempted a return a few months after he retires next. Especially since it’s likely to be in a different sweater.

Remember Marty Brodeur on the Blues?

At least that had silver lining of this

Of course because of a certain POS named William (Bill) I had to listen to it on radio instead of enjoying it on TV

Also didn't get to hear the guy I had listened to all my life call goal because that same POS fired him

Im just happy for him and his legacy. Frankly the greatness of our dynasty has been obliterated by the short careers of the guys plus the scandal. Toews specifically has completely left the common narrative of hockey. People in media and life will be like, “you need a Bergeron, a Kopitar, a Barkov to win” and I’m shouting TOEWS WAS BETTER AND WON MORE and it drives me crazy. Hopefully being around again will jog people’s memories, his peak was the best of his generation behind only Crosby.

People talk more about freaking Marleau and Thornton, the Sedins and hell even Kesler. I feel like so much of that history has been erased. In what world are we talking about Bergeron and Chara more in the hockey universe than Toews and Keith. The reputation of the era has largely been erased. If you asked someone on 2025 they’d just talk about Kane.

Toews gets plenty of love on the polls board. Jaeger made a Toews vs Tavares poll up now still I think. He’ll always get the recognition from hockey fans. That’s the power of winning. Captain and 1C on a three time Cup winner and winning playoff MVP, impossible to ignore.

Barkov is really good though. He’s up there with Kopitar and Toews.

Toews was my fave player from the Dynasty era.

If he is planning a comeback that means his body responded to the treatment. He wouldn't come back just to embarrass himself. If he was gassed all the time, he would have called it.

3rd line C in Colorado seems like a perfect fit.
Agreed. I don't see this guy "taking a shift off" just to get back playing in the NHL.

Dude is a straight up gamer and has always had compete - I could absolutely see him embracing a 4th line role on a strong team and completely buying into a team game to "just win".

Would absolutely love to see Toews come back with a contender and contribute to another cup.
Of course as others have stated to see Toews and Kaner come back to the Hawks for a year or three to help seed the growth of the next run of success for the Hawks would be my first choice even though the chances of this are remote to none.

There is no unfinished business, there should be no financial reason. Good luck to him but color me very skeptical.

There is only one reason for him to go through the grinder of another NHL season at this point. EGO

Could there not also be the simple fact of love of the game combined with not being able to call it quits on his own accord and not from the bizarre long covid or whatever it was condition?

Love of the game? Have you seen or heard of him at ANY NHL event or function? I have not.

As far as not being able to call it quits on his own terms, that's where the EGO comes in thinking one controls all the shots in their life. Doesn't always work out that way, life has a way of humbling people.

I'd still love to see the training tapes.

Love of the game entails much more than PR appearances in my mind.
Is it ego? We don't control the events within our lives entirely but out of love of the game and being able to contribute in the only way you have known through your lifetime I can see the drive to come back being more about being able to rekindle that passion. When you've already accomplished it all I can't see it being about ego especially given the Toews we have come to know.

Going out on his own terms rather than let a disease end his career?
