Im just happy for him and his legacy. Frankly the greatness of our dynasty has been obliterated by the short careers of the guys plus the scandal. Toews specifically has completely left the common narrative of hockey. People in media and life will be like, “you need a Bergeron, a Kopitar, a Barkov to win” and I’m shouting TOEWS WAS BETTER AND WON MORE and it drives me crazy. Hopefully being around again will jog people’s memories, his peak was the best of his generation behind only Crosby.
People talk more about freaking Marleau and Thornton, the Sedins and hell even Kesler. I feel like so much of that history has been erased. In what world are we talking about Bergeron and Chara more in the hockey universe than Toews and Keith. The reputation of the era has largely been erased. If you asked someone on 2025 they’d just talk about Kane.
