Tocchet's system is antequated, to be generous. Players can't score this way, and risk being benched for breaking how the system says they should play and score.
The team isn't formed up the way it needs to for said system. Our D is terribly slow, and outside of our top two guys,, no one seems to want to move puck, while our forwards are being asked to crash and bang, when they are mostly smaller, slower middle six players.
The players all look checked out, except for Hughes, Sherwood usually, and Lank. You can't fire the whole roster, but my goodness, there are some key players that need to be moved or woken up. 3 or 4 of our top 5 or 6 players having this pertain to them is a huge issue, and it's beyond just coaching.
I'd propose trading Miller and Pettersson. both, and anyone else that has asked for a trade. Start there.
