Tocchet Do We Really Need Him

Personally, Rick is hired to coach, not complain about a practice facility. I don’t recall any coach or players ever complaining about having their own facility.

Also 5 million for a guy whois only won 1 round is kinda pricey. Mike
Babcock for example has Stanley cup rings, gold medals on his resume and he was 4 million. I’m ok with moving on to another coach.
Yeah.

A coach wanting to have NHL level facilities to work with is just wild. Good riddance.

I agree that it’s up to the players to train during the summer. I’m not sure how this topic came up, as I don’t recall this ever being an issue with our players in the past—except for Jake Virtanen.

We do have a workout facility. It would be nice to have our own dedicated practice facility, but this team seems to have done without one for… well… over 30 years. I don’t see why it’s suddenly an urgent issue now.

If Rick isn’t interested in coming back, then we have to move on. I find him overrated. I don’t understand why he refuses to stack the lines occasionally. We’ve clearly seen how effective it was when Edmonton did it. It’s crazy that we had our own “Lotto Line” with Boeser, Miller, and Pettersson, yet after two of those players left, he never once tried revisiting that combination. It’s outright disgraceful that he expects everyone to play the game exactly the way he would.

I’m open to trying new coaches like Gerard Gallant, Peter Laviolette, or Mike Sullivan.

Tocchet taking a shot at the owner, is probably an indication we're at 'the end of the line'.

According to IMac's article on Sportsnet, it was an issue Tocchet raised with management three years ago, and was assured a practice facility was at hand. Clearly the Aquilini's are dragging their feet and Tocchet has basically called them out.

The big problem without a practice facility is that players can't or won't stay in Vancouver and train in the off-season. So it's much harder for the coaching staff to figure out where they're at. As we saw with Pettersson last off-season' and Joshua the year before that, it can be a big problem.

I'd now be genuinely shocked if the owners offered a long term deal to Tocchet for $5m a season. So IMac and Quinn Hughes are destined to be disappointed in my opinion.

They could hire Sullivan, but he won't come cheap. Manny Malhotra, on the other hand, will as a rookie coach. If he succeeds in guiding the Abbotsford Canucks to a long Calder Cup run--then he's probably 'their guy'.

lol that's on Tocchet for buying that

he signed up for a team without a practice facility, and even if we identify and purchase a site, it's still gonna take years to build the thing.

Rutherford stated it, they wouldn't exercise the option because they don't want a coach with something else on his mind, now there are two things, practice facility which to me is ridiculous, they could easily arranged for ice time for the year at any of the numerous ice sheets in the area,

IMO this is another red herring used by the owned media to distract fans. Using this example they distract from Allvin. Obviously the owner's are not going to spend a couple of hundred million so Tocchet can have a regular office away from the arena.

They could easily lease/rent Canlan Sports Complex for ALL practices for both teams for the hours they need for practice. They aren't practicing when most youth teams are needing ice AND it would make players closer to the fans instead of creating a bigger gap. They also have multiple ice sheets and lots of parking.
