Tocchet Do We Really Need Him

How about this? I’ll delete my account here and stop covering the Canucks for CanucksArmy or Twitter.

Don’t ever question my morals or values.

That's fair but this is the owner of the team:

One child recalled an incident in which they say their father began beating them while they were sleeping and continued to beat them until they woke up. Another remembered being punched in the stomach by Francesco Aquilini.

In the most lengthy passage Hunter read for the court, one child described their father becoming angry with the children because they were being too loud in the family rec room.

"The respondent [Francesco Aquilini] then forced all of us upstairs into our individual rooms, went to each room to physically abuse each child. I saw the respondent throw another child — at that time five years old — across the room," the affidavit says.

f***ing sickening.

f***ing sickening.

It is and I've commented on it before. The entire family has done horrible stuff that's resulted in the deaths of others. I've also known how horrible the Aquilini's, especially Francesco is, for a very long time.

I can choose where to draw the line and make it as arbitrary as I want.

Q should never be anywhere near an NHL bench again and anyone seriously suggesting him is insane.

I agree but he has been reinstated and there were articles saying teams have shown interest. Keep in mind that Babcock got another NHL head coaching job and Stan Bowman got another NHL GM job. There's also some pushback against "cancel culture" these days.

There's also the Penguins sexual assault scandal that was covered up when Rutherford was GM.

Q is a great coach but after what happened in Chicago he should not get a job in the NHL ever again. I'd rather Willie D coaches this team again than Q.
Babcock is jerk and a bully but what he did pales in comparison to what Q and Stan Bowman did. If Babcock can't coach in the NHL then neither should Q. Oilers are a joke of a franchise for hiring Stan and karma is bitting them in the ass since he is a joke of a GM without his dad playing advisor.

Cancel culture is not what this is about.

If he does leave voluntarily, that’s about as damning an indictment on management as you can get from the guy who works most closely with them - don’t think that has really happened in Canucks history to date.

It would make me have to re-evaluate almost everything management has said to date from a completely different lens.

I like Tocchet and wanted him to stay here but if he needs to take it to the wire on if he wants to stay here than he clearly doesn’t want to be here.

Yeah, if he's asking for an outrageous sum it's a bit like a "no... unless you'd seriously do that."

Have to wonder if that's a "putting up with Petey tax" as well.

Opinions on coaches are fickle. One season you're the Jack Adams winner the next you're a bum who's out of a job.

Right now Tocchet is the belle of the ball. He's everyone's first choice in a time when there's multiple job openings. I don't think you can blame the guy for taking a second to consider all options.

If he signs here long term and the Hughes situation goes sideways, you can bet that Anaheim job will be looking pretty sweet.

Cancel culture is not what this is about.

Is that what you got out of my post? If it wasn't clear to you, I was responding to AV'sG saying "Q should never be anywhere near an NHL bench again and anyone seriously suggesting him is insane." My point is that multiple factors (including Queneville having been reinstated, Bowman getting hired, and some pushback against cancel culture) suggest that Quenneville could land another NHL head coaching job including the one here if there's an opening.

Yes.
