Another game puck for Rasmus "99th Percentile" Sandin for an assist and a very nice 69% xG share.

Honorable mentions to Logan Thompson (despite the OT goof), Taylor Raddysh, and Dylan Strome.

Their puck management was terrible all night and they just completely sat back in the 3rd without pushing for any more offense. Protas and Duhaime passed up empty nets, Wilson had a horrid giveaway, and Thompson for some reason let Tavares have that breakaway in OT.

I trust Carberry will use it as a teaching lesson, but that was really bad. The point isn’t a huge deal, but they need to realize they can’t play that cute and expect to be successful. They’re good, but they’re not that good.

Third line sported a ~20% xG share tonight. Not like they were getting tough assignments.

I hope for the best from Lapierre in the future but he's struggling big time right now. Hard to fault them making the Eller trade.

In a dumb sort of way LT win streak came to an end. I wasn't able to catch any of the game, but just saw the disallowed Caps goal which I 100% disagree with. Dowd made an effort to get back out of the crease and Woll didn't even sell it enough to push out to the top of the crease. I will also say the Leafs goal that was disallowed for a kicking motion off the knee maybe should have counted(although did it touch off the players glove?).

Why do the Leafs decide to play us well against their former assistant coach, yet don't play like that against most other teams?

Hard to put that on Thompson. That is a team loss!

Last, in OT OV was a hair close to zipping that shot through Woll's five-hole! Woll got crossed up but got a bit lucky. The reason he kind of made that save because he played aggressive and maybe forced OV to make a quicker decision than he wanted to. LT, unfortunately was indecisive at the other end on Tavares.

I'm not, but it was puzzling he played great except for that last play. Maybe if Carlson had converged on Tavares quicker, LT would have been more aggressive.

Silver lining is that their passing and puck management was atrocious all game and they still scored 3 even strength goals. They’re a legitimately good team but they can’t turn the puck over like that. They were doing it in the first 2 periods as well and the Leafs were just a bit off and didn’t get much out of it. Then the Caps continued to turn pucks over in the 3rd. That, combined with the Caps sitting back and the Leafs playing with more urgency led to what happened. Learn from it and move on.

What a horrible loss
Nah, it's actually more normal for teams to come from behind now. If the Caps were blown out big time, then that would be a horrible loss in my mind. They sat back too much in 3rd and didn't get the important 4th goal needed, whether the wrong call on Dowd goalie interference(that is 2nd time in like 3 years that has happened involving Dowd?) or not getting the empty netter. Another way to look at it, maybe didn't deserve to win this game because they didn't fully play the right way?

Toronto is pretty good, even without Matthews. I have been watching them all year.

Blowing 2-goal leads seems to happen to good teams more than it used to. Arguably some bad game-deciding calls (or noncalls). Arguably Caps were the better team overall tonight. I am still happy about the point, and I am still pretty excited about the Capitals so far.
