Tkachuk Broken Sternum and Ekblad Multiple Injuries

Guys in baseball don't play through injuries. Blister, out for a week. Personally, I'm glad hockey players are on the tougher side. You could always just stick to watching baseball if you don't like guys playing through injuries

Newsflash, you can actually like both sports. I do. And I don’t think you understand that pitching with a blister dramatically alters a pitcher’s effectiveness. Grip is very important.

Im gonna go out on a limb and say playing with a broken sternum alters a players effectiveness too.

can we get a flag for these extremely biased omar tweets? something along the lines of eklund because that's about how reliable the tweets are

Maybe something to warn people real discussions will happen and if they don't like it they can stay in their safe space?

boo.

Head injuries aside. Choosing to play through those types of injuries is RAD. Dude is a warrior.

As long as consenting adult agree, its their body. He shouldn't even have to see a doctor if he doesn't want to,
You want an athlete to want to be out there no matter what. You want them so committed that they are willing to die out there on the field for their team.

Sometimes you have to disappoint that warrior and hold him back, for his own health and for the good of the team. Team management and coaches should be making hard decisions like that. "I know you want to go, but we need you 100% and you can't even dress yourself."

Cucky was worthless in Game 4 and took up bench space most of the time. It was too late for Flariduh by the time he self-eliminated from the game 5 lineup.

I don't need them to "be out there no matter what", I just think its rad when they choose to be.

Outside of head injuries, I respect guys who leave everything on the ice and play hurt when it matters. It encapsulates the spirit of hockey.

It's also a matter of choice. No one should be forced to play hurt, but people should also be aloud to do what they want with their bodies without the pearl clutchers shrieking about it.

It's a shame Tkachuk was too soft to play in the final game. Obviously didn't want it bad enough.
To his credit, he was still willing and able to grease people after whistles and games up to the point he was no longer willing to play hockey.

Have you considered that injuries in other sports affect their athletes more than athletes in hockey?

It would be impossible to pitch a baseball with a broken rib or hip. It would be impossible to be anything besides a liability in basketball with such injuries as well. But in hockey you can still make plays and tip pucks, still be a positive asset while shooting at 30% of your power.

The toughness argument is silly as well, because those players aren't really helping their team at all. It's not a good thing like you make it to be. Crosby sat out the 3rd during the cup final game in 2009, because even though he could still skate and make plays, he didn't want to be a liability to his team. People roasted him for it, but he did the right thing because winning > acting tough.

and they allowed him to play in game 4...
there should be something done to player safety in the NHL..
- like for real

this shit has lasted as long as NHL has existed

goons, physical type of players dying early because head and mental trauma
players been allowed to play while seriously injured

criminal charges to these so called doctors and physicians
and to managers, coaches

ps. don't give me bs that player feels that he can play
this is forced labor

Criminal charges? That's ridiculous, in that case there should be criminal charges laid against every team in every league on this planet

Wow, Leafs fans out in full force to be as obnoxious and inhuman as possible and rip on a guy's injury by declaring he just deserves it.Get your shit together, Toronto, losing with grace is so much better than this.
