Post-Game Talk: Time to finish the story

Even if I was predisposed to go I think this one is for newer fans. I saw my share of cup wins in the 80's. I'll sit this one out. I really feel though for what people are required to pay to see it this time around. Back then it was a dirt cheap spectacle. We were so lucky.
The wife wanted to buy tickets but then she remembered we are goi g to Europe three times this year.

My Mom was the biggest Oilers fan. She unfortunately passed just before the playoffs started but the last conversation we had she told me that something about this year felt different. There is calmness and determination this year that felt just like the 84 team. I know she would be ecstatic to see what we have done this far. Jobs not done yet though. Win this for my mom boys.

My mother died in fall 2006. She was staying with us during the 2006 run and she loved it.

You can tell Bettman had a say in the final schedule 2day rest going back to florida then another 2 days rest for the home team Florida then 1 day rest back to Edmonton for game 5 Florida gets 2 days rest for every home game Oilers get only one and that is if it goes to a 7th game

This is fun: Goals in series:

Jeff Skinner 1 he played 12 mins and just one game

Dallas Stars that failed to score a single goal and played all games:

Rantanen, Duchene, Marchment, Benn, Johnstone

Dadonov never scored or got a point in several games.

Hintz didn't score until near end of series.

Matt Clown Duchene scored one meager goal in all 18 playoff games. lol Skinner matched that in 12mins of toi.
Skinner got trashed pretty good here when he was getting scratched early on and through out the season, with people saying he came from a losing organization, therefor, by extension, didn't know how to play winning hockey, and was a loser himself. But I think he's shown to his detractors, that given the chance, he can play solid playoff winning hockey and contribute at the highest level in the most extreme circumstances. I thought he played a solid game last night.

Speaking of moms.. my mom never cared about hockey when we were younger really. But this year she’s got super into it. Watching every Oilers game and watching most of the other games too.

Part of me believes the moms who have passed are up there watching too
My Mom was a Leaf fan her whole life. She tried to get me to be a Leaf fan in 1977. I couldnt do it. I knew back then as a kid they were terrible. I broke her heart that day but hard decisions had to be made. Thankfully the Oilers came into existence in 79-80. I jumped on board immediately

The Penguins fans on this board are crazy.

There is literally zero history between our two teams but they can't stand us because they somehow think McDavid having success takes away from Crosby's legacy. I don't think any Oilers fan has a problem with the Penguins.
They also still think they have an amazing that was being held back by Mike Sullivan

I guess years of success does that 😆

I know a few penguins fans. Most hate the Oilers. It's probably one of the most slept on rivalries tbh. It's a shame we don't play them more often.

This is because for years they were told they had the best player in the world and he was comparable to Gretzky and Lemieux. He was and is an unreal player but he was really never on that same level. Connor on the other hand is actually on the same level as those two. his playoff performances have been outstanding and he’s going to cap it with his cup in just a few weeks. Nothing against Crosby amazing player but Connor is just that much better.

Damn
Our D is somehow being so underrated in all of this.

They move the puck so quickly the other team doesn't seem to have any chance to set anything up.

We have 3 pairs that are like trying to punch water. They're so fluid and quick.
its weird how no one outside of people who watch a lot of Oilers seem to know our D are elite… most of the so called experts are anything but

Yes, it's always painful to listen when ESPN or TNT brings in a new broadcast crew for the Oilers series and they don't know anything about the team.

"Knoblauch already loading up McDavid and Draisaitl." No, it's either 1) after the Oilers kill a penalty, or 2) the other team's bottom-6 just iced the puck.

"Bouchard is an adventure at both ends of the ice." In the playoffs he a positive on both offense and defense.

"McDavid and Draisaitl really focusing on defense tonight." They've been doing that for long time.
