Post-Game Talk: Time to finish the story

It isn't just that it sucks, it's how it sucks. Multi year bad deals for Dumba and Lybushkin, then perhaps the biggest sin was dumping a 1st for a D man that doesn't appear to be an NHLer in Lindqvist. Lindell is on a dog of a contract too and he sucks.

His handling of the defence is honestly fireable. The fact that Petrovic is in the playoffs two years in a row says it all.
But its the same problem we had when we were throwing Ceci and VD over the boards. Its rare for a club, any club to assemble 8 D that can play. Most teams and even most playoff teams have relative fill D. We haven't played a club that doesn't have some weak D that we can exploit. Back in the day teams could exploit our bottom D.

As far as Dallas people can fill me in on the Dumba situation. Is day to day for him meaning permanent? haha. I can't see any details on how his injuries just seem endless now. Stars also without Lybushkin and Lundqvist. Its not like they arrrived at playing Petrovic they have done so through serial injuries and remember Heiskanen was out for months as well.

That said I would not have gone after Dumba for that payscale, or at all.

STH get a unique code. I just hit the purchase button as I’m curious. 653 people in front of me right now for ST 4 game package presales. STH can buy up to 4 - 4 game packages. Ends at 10:30.

Then it’s individual ST pregame sales. STH can buy up to 4 tix per game. Ends at noon. At noon the Remainder on sale to the public. I doubt there will be many left but if you want my code DM me. I have my seasons tickets so I’ll be in my seats!!

Curious what direct sale prices are.
I looked at StubHub last night. Lowest tix for Game 1 & 2 were $1100+. Had thought of seeing my first Cup Final since the 80’s but I only have two kidneys available for sale. ;)

This is fun: Goals in series:

Jeff Skinner 1 he played 12 mins and just one game

Dallas Stars that failed to score a single goal and played all games:

Rantanen, Duchene, Marchment, Benn, Johnstone

Dadonov never scored or got a point in several games.

Hintz didn't score until near end of series.

Matt Clown Duchene scored one meager goal in all 18 playoff games. lol Skinner matched that in 12mins of toi.

Even if I was predisposed to go I think this one is for newer fans. I saw my share of cup wins in the 80's. I'll sit this one out. I really feel though for what people are required to pay to see it this time around. Back then it was a dirt cheap spectacle. We were so lucky.

Not to get too personal but I grew up in Saskatoon. So going to games was an amazing treat and special road trips with my Dad and brother who have both passed away. For me to even remotely consider going to this Final pulls on a lot of personal threads.

Oh I have a different hookup for a code, I just wanted to confirm how the process works so I’m prepared. But thanks!

Similar. My love of sports started through my Father, RIP and not only did he introduce me to the sports but he was the Masonry Foreman for the Edmonton Coliseum and Commonwealth Stadium builds so I got to see these places during construction, got to go up in the press catwalk at Coliseum and also walk up to the lights catwalk way up at Commonwealth stadium.

I miss Edmonton Coliseum so much, I have deep ties to it. Commonwealth as well.

Skinner finished with a -0.12 GSAx, so I think his save percentage is a bit misleading tonight. That's basically break-even and around what Pickard was getting. When Stu was losing us games it was more like -1.5 to -2.6. And keep in mind this is after allowing two goals in three games, averaging like 2.5 GSAx, and facing twenty plus shots a night and some high-dangers. I don't think old Stu is back.
Yeah he was solid tonight. Aside from the Robertson goal in the 3rd which he definitely should have stopped, he was solid.

Solid is all we’ve ever asked for. Solid is all this team needs.

Quietly I think it was extremely important that the skaters gave up nothing after that goal though.

It was a classic Stu "my game is about to completely implode" moment.

They could take my nuts for payment. I dont need them anymore anyway. Anything for the Oilers
LOYAL TO THE OIL

Agree, for a team that drafts and develops so well, Nill's trades haven't been that great. I also think moving out Stankoven really hurt their centre depth and a valuable energy guy. A one legged Hinz with not much happening after him was a big factor of the Oilers centre depth and stifling team defense.

That’s interesting and all but I’d rather hear the stories about how you played in the sand as they were building the pyramids. Was the beer they drank anything like ours?

There’s still a dude on CP saying that the flames would have given the oilers a run for their money.
He likely means, that the Flames would get caught in the awkward distance where they are not sure if they should hold the door open for the Oilers. Thus making the Oilers do the shuffle jog thing so they don't inconvenience the Flames that are holding the door.

With the code you get season ticket holder prices until noon today. I’m in New Brunswick and brain foggy due to a copious amount of rum and whiskey watching the game last night so my time zone coordination is all messed up lol.

That would have been a cool experience. My dad was a GC and I spent a lot of time on construction sites and projects, but nothing ever of that size or import.

Peter Batoni was the GC I recall. Massive build at the time.

Question - were the exterior side panels formed and poured concrete on site or were they precast, mobilized and installed on site?

I know that time marches on, but having gone to see so many memorable players, games and concerts in that place - it will always be Northlands to me - it will be a sad day when the eventual happens. I hope I’m around and can be there when it’s demoed. I actually drove past it this morning headed to Hys from here in the Fort. I Always take a long look at it.

code?

I'm definitely looking for tickets. After chatting it over today, I'll be flying over with the wife and kids for a spontaneous vacation in Edmonton. Will be hoping to catch all the home games I can while we're there!

Sorry Duder I just gave out my code to a fellow forum member for today’s season ticket holder presale which ends at noon today. We get a unique code so can only be used once I’m afraid but good luck!

Edmonton Coliseum Side panels were all precast. I wish I could've worked on those jobsites. I was only 12 lol. I did work construction starting age 15. Back then you could do it. just in the summers and some weekends. My older Bro worked on all those builds and also places like Jasper Park Lodge. Imagine working there and you get top accommodation as a construction worker and then drop a line in the evening and you have fresh trout dinner every night. Dad did most of the Stonework one sees in Jasper townsite, his favorite place to work. (of course) Worked on some Douglas Cardinal builds as well.

Myself I worked on Westerra (met Joe Clark there when he came by as PM) Built heritage Mall (what a shame they tore it all down,) Universiade accomodation and a lot of schools, warehouses and packing plants (f***ing 12inch wide blocks...with walls that were weight supporting and had to be filled to the brim with concrete and rebar. All the concrete pailed up by hand. Didn't have concrete pumps back then.

I went to pretty much every last event I could at Edmonton Coliseum. The last one Peter Gabriel/ Sting tour. Was a good concert but sad feelings.

The catwalk had great vantage pts at Edmonton Coliseum. That was great to go up there and even did during a game but that was WHA.

When the new rink was said to feature "Skywalk" or " Sky paddock" seating I was thrilled and I would've bought those. unfortunately they cut it out after initial renders. Its such a shame. Wish they would revisit that. Its great to see a game looking right down from the rafters. f***ing awesome.
