Post-Game Talk: Time to finish the story

Unreal. Didn't seem likely with the way the regular season ended, but here we are.

Florida is going to be a monster of a challenge, but I'm done underestimating this team this year.

Now the real question, do I fly over from Switzerland to catch a game in person??? Time to go check out flights!
Pick me up when your coming over. You will be flying right over my province

This is for @Mr Kot

Thanks Quintin. Couldn’t have done it without you.

I said it before the Kings series. I had a feeling that if the Oilers somehow got past the Kings with all their skating wounded, and there were a bunch of guys who didn't have their skating legs back after returning from injury, and without Ekholm that they'd start rolling. They just needed to get past that first hurdle and that play right there was the turning point not only of the season but perhaps the legacy of this group. It could have gone a VERY different way if the Oilers didn't score that tying goal in Game 4 against L.A.

my god it's so f***ing funny hearing people from other fanbases always saying the same shit about the Oilers opponents pre and post series.

Pre Vegas: "Oh, the Oilers will get killed by Vegas' depth scoring and shut down by their elite dcore"
Post Vegas: "Wow the Knights look old and slow, and worn out, Oilers yet again get a free pass playing in weakass pacific division, they will get destroyed by a real team like the Stars with actual depth and elite goaltending."

And you know how the rest goes

Nuts thinking about to how off guys were most of the season and how we were ~5 minutes from being down 0-3 against the Kings. And minutes from down 3-1 the next game too until the Kings did something stupid to help us both of those games.

This team needed some kind of spark to start playing like they can. A little luck, some guys getting healthy and we were off to the races back to the finals again.

Let's finish it this year!

It’s pure cope best to ignore the morons

I thought Kulak was our worst defender in the 1st & 2nd period, but turned it around in the 3rd when he had to so, that was a good sign.

TBF, some of his struggles could have been due to some bad ice.

Just a short while ago, we were hearing about how Rantanen was a playoff beast and we'd have to watch out for him in the conf finals. 3 measly assists, no goals, Mcdavid and Drai both passed him in playoff stats, and Rants was so invisible that he might as well have been back in Carolina

That turned into a total nothing-burger of a story
It’s not any fun playing against Leon Draisaitl.

The Panthers are an excellent hockey team but in my opinion a bit overrated.

So much talk about Sam Bennett, who has done well in the playoffs, but if you look back at his regular season stats he had 51 points and was a -15 on a very good hockey team. Not overwhelming.

Don't get me wrong, I'd like to have him on the Oiler's roster but if you look at the Panther's roster they are certainly not invincible.

Some of you didn't like his game but Kulak did lead the Oil in ice time with 22:32 in the most important game of the year while the D corpse was completely reconstructed.
Kulak was solid overall, especially in the 3rd. I am still concerned about him on his offside. That's a problem that can't go away. It's impossible to fully adjust to. Florida will be targeting him there, just like last year.

The Nurse Stecher pairing was working really well. But this is the Panthers now, the leagues top forechecking team.

The Oilers road to victory will be quick puck transportation from the backend, not getting hemmed in, and building speed through through the neutral zone. We need a distributor on every pairing.

I don't know exactly where Kulak should be situated... playing LD with Bouchard, then move Ekholm to the RD partnered with Nurse. This is what I'd try.

There has been a few people around the team that say Hyman is "likely" done for the playoffs. I seriously doubt he comes back, but it IS possible that part way thru the finals, he gets a playing cast and it becomes a pain threshold thing. I wonder if it is possible if the finals go long enough.

Also, who comes out when Brown is back? The easy pick is JSkinner, but the LW/RW thing may be a factor. They may also think they have enough grit and could use his scoring ability. Nice problem to have.

I could see him back if the series goes to game 6 or game 7.
