Post-Game Talk: Time to cut the moustache

This board is being lazy. This current roster? Jackson f***ed it up in the 5 days after July 1. Skinner and Arvidsson should never have been signed. My hand goes up where I thought they would good moves but like many I asked how do we sign the two players the blues stole from us. We couldn't blame Jackson or Bowman?

How many f***ing injured players have the oilers traded for this year.

Our cupboards are nearly empty for a reason.

But go ahead and stick to it is Skinner and the goalies coaches fault.

The list goes on abd our D still lacks so much.

The problems go beyond Skinner and the goalie coach. But it is easier for this board...day in and day out to say it is all them every

Every lose we have it is the same complaint about Skinner and the coach.

We are 41-25-5. I guess they had nothing to do with the 41 wins?

We are in cap and we will be in cap hell this time next

Problems with how this team was built is obvious.

What I keep saying is even when the team was good our starting goalie was a problem. He's been a problem all season. Many of those wins were in spite of Skinner. And far too many of those losses are due to Skinner, including the one tonight. We'd be comfortably in first with a league-average goalie, even with our moron coach.

Yup, his posts are all the same. Impressive to have 100,000 posts saying nothing,

I don't usually look at reaction scores, but it's really telling that out of those nearly 100,000 posts only about 13,000 received any kind of reaction...so you might have a point there. Also, I would wager that most of those reactions are unwanted laugh reacts...

I agree. He's regressing so much and outright costing the team games. Also, I think his stats are misleading because aside from that hot run between November to January, where the team mostly played airtight D, he's been horrible. He was only slightly above Georgiev for worst GSAx in the entire league at the start of the season, so he pretty much cost us a few games on his own earlier this year. Then even when he was "playing well" he was still too often putting the team down by three in the first period and forcing McDrai to claw us back to victory. I think for most of this season you could put Skinner on any non-playoff team and he'd be demoted to the AHL within a month. He's not even an average backup level goalie at this point.
oh I agree, this year has not been good at all. It's been his worst season as a pro by far. Some good games for sure, but way more below average games, than above average games. He will need to make some adjustments, or he won't be in the league much longer. I think he can, I definitely hope he can. Next training camp and start to the season will be huge for him, and the future of his career. He's still their best hope for this year, due to the absence of moves at goaltender by Bowman at the trade deadline, like it or not.

Knoblauch is a bigger problem than anyone wants to admit. When his decisions are blatantly stupid this consistently, I have to wonder… There is a lot of skill on this team in every area but the net. They can perform better, as we’re seeing, but him and our goaltending are holding this team back.
His post game interviews have turned into a bit of a sputtering mess compared to his composure last season.

I don't know why we are discussing the goalie...TDL is over, there is nothing we can do right now...our goalie situation is s*** and everybody outside of our management knows it.
All we can do is to not throw him under the bus (regardless of deserving)...we have to cheer for him/them no matter how hard it is.
I don't like our situation either, but it is what it is now until next season.

In case any one is wondering Gibson, who management apparently didn't think was an upgrade over Skinner(must be Schwartz reporting this) had a .920 tonight vs Boston and has had a save percentage over .900 in 9 of his last 11 games while Skinner has managed the EXACT opposite and only put up 2 games over .900 in the last 11 games. And the Oilers D is significantly fking better then the ducks.

Skinner is fking worst then Campbell ever was......... and he continues to get worse some fking how.....

Since we're talking about goalies who were totally not available, nope, not at all...James Reimer, who after getting rare starts for most of the season, recently started three games in five days and finished with a .918. He faced at least 30 shots in each game behind what no intelligent person can say is a better defense or better defensive system than what Edmonton has, including a win against Winnipeg with a .917. Hmm, wonder how our goalies did against them?

Sure would be nice to have that guy right now, but he totally wasn't available. Nope, a pending UFA backup for one of the three worst teams in the league totally wasn't on the market and probably couldn't have been had for Colin Delia and a 4th...

And his sample size is admittedly small, very small, but Reimer is now 13th in GSAx, two spots behind John Gibson. Skinner is now 72nd. No starter whose team is in a playoff spot is below Stu.

The Skinner defenders are awfully quiet tonight. I expect they'll be back for his next good performance three or four games from now.

Oh look another 4 goal game from the worst goalie in the league that two people in this section will do anything to make believe that its somehow the teams fault.

There are days where it's at least six. They're more silent during games like these now (aside from an "it's not his fault" post), but they'll pop up like whack-a-moles as soon as a couple people start defending him...of course some of those same people will deny defending him, and in fact claim that nobody defends him anymore...yet at the same time deflect all blame from him, absolving him of any responsibility for the loss, while pinning everything on the defense. There were a crazy amount of them in the deadline day thread. It almost looked like half the board thought he was a decent goalie.

How do people defend this clown in net at this point
It’s ridiculous. All teams make mistakes. The difference is that other goalies can make saves.

Even when the Oilers limit high danger chances, Skinner lets the few that do happen in.

If the expectation is that the Oilers have to play error free hockey then we might as well pack it in.

Ask 1000 hockey fans who would have one this game.

I've been saying all season that this forward corps outside of McDavid and Draisatl shouldn't scare anyone. They seriously struggle to produce offense. How many games have we won this year when we put up 40 shots?
They scored 8 goals in 2 games without McDrai and gave up 8 goals. I wonder which one was the bigger issue.

Listening to GYB and I see the headline of the video is "Open Season in the Oilers Crease" so I think, oh finally their group is going to address the goaltending concerns, and instead it's Rishaug going on a rant about why the team didn't pound the Stars players after Skinner got bumped a few times and that's the big issue with this team. O....k

Or play 6 on 5, because we get about the same level of Goaltending regardless, might as well take the extra skater.

I hope Rodrigue gets the callup, he’s due a cup of coffee, he’s been inconsistent at the AHL level, and had brilliant games and stinkers. but he’s obviously the #1 goalie there.

Oilers fans sick of Skinner not being able to get across the crease will love this guy, he’s athletic and quick, makes a lot of instinct saves. He gets a bad rap by scout types because he’s not a big guy, 6’1” 175.

Also his dad is his goalie coach, not Jeff Schwartz.

Credit to the Oilers for not giving up but they still put up offense only when the game was out of reach. I can't remember the last time Janmark, Podz, Kapenan or Ryan scored. RNH was also back to being mostly invisible too. Perry being more effective than half our forwards is great for him but deeply concerning for the team.
