Post-Game Talk: Time to cut the moustache

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
Stars are a paper tiger. They don’t scare me. But do the Oilers scare anyone this year? I don’t think Vegas or Colorado would be too worried to play us.
Probably would be the Oilers fortune, and it was last year, if the Stars take out the heavies for us. I'd rather face Stars than say Colorado for sure. Rantanen has mostly been not much with Dallas so far. Maybe he gets in tune, maybe he doesn't I saw him shorting a lot of plays tonight and not all in. Playing not to get hurt it looked like. Limits what you're doing.

It is beyond any sort of logic or reason that we didn’t address our goaltending issue during the year. I am beyond a patient person, but this is inexcusable. Add this to the offer sheet fiasco, and it’s another huge miss by our owner in his management hiring. So frustrating.
2 weeks left in the regular season.

Europe has been a goalie factory the last 5 years---so its not impossible that someone is out there who could run on adrenalin for a while. Then again, if the scouting staff couldn't find anybody in the last decade then..............

There just seems to be a real belief in Skinner's capabilities within the organization for some reason. Whole new management group comes in and we start hearing things like "he's a playoff performer", it's pretty baffling. Even those rumors that the Oilers were inquiring on Gibson were misleading, as it sounds like they wanted a 1b guy to backup Skinner in net rather than outright replace him, as if Pickard is somehow the weak link in net or something.

Only real hope is the whispers that if goaltending falters in the playoffs, they might actually do something, but it's not exactly a comforting thought that they're willing to sacrifice another year on the alter of bad goaltending right before Mcdavid's contract renewal before they'll finally address the problem.

Is losing Skinner to injury really a bad thing though? An inanimate carbon rod could be an upgrade at this point

We have a management group that doesn’t want to do their jobs. They’re too lazy to build around Mcdrai so they kick the Nurse contract down the road . Then when he’s up they don’t want to find an actual top pair defenseman, they just pay him like one. They don’t want to develop players like Holloway and Broberg, they’d rather give those spots to guys other teams developed and have moved on from. Unless a problem is screaming at them in the face, they won’t do anything about it. And by the time they do, 3 other problems have opened up. This team’s “plan” for the last decade has been “let the 2 superstars win it for us.” It’s only come close because Mcdrai are absolutely incredible. But make no mistake, they’ve been bailing out horrendous management for a decade now.

Beautifully said. The Oilers want to luck their way to a Cup instead of putting in the hard work that other teams do. I know Dallas hasn't won anything yet but their team is loaded with studs that they personally drafted and developed.

Or look at Vegas. If you're not good enough you're out of there. They'll do anything to win, no price is too great.

Meanwhile, Edmonton just sits around and waits for McDrai to win them a Cup and yet it hasn't happened.

He tried beating the carbon rod tonight and it won. Was a pretty funny sketch. He can't even break a stick. "Oh look I'm mad and everything, I really care" Players looked at him like he's strange.

I thought about some innuendo in the post but I won't say it...

Unbelievable that an injury is the only way Skinner is taken out of the lineup. What a mess this organization is over goaltending.
Yeah, that was my comment. Rantanen the only guy in the universe that can Skinner out of our net and he's not even working for us.

Debrusk: I'm sure somebodies gonna go off. Sure somethings gonna happen. Oilers don't even respond. Shit didn't happen until Steele ran at Pickard. Now its personal, haha.

Vegas moved on from Marchessault as he declined , Tampa from Stamkos, heck Rangers told Trouba waive or we won’t play you. This organization does not want to win, I legitimately don’t believe they do. They want to be a place the “good guys” can mooch of Mcdrai.

I know bashing Skinner is the theme here but IMO Ekholm-Bouchard pairing was as big a trainwreck as Skinner tonight. Walman looked best of the bunch but didn't get the big minutes.

Nice guy > winning, for sure

Part of me wants Skinner to just be out and the goaltending to truly blow up in their face. Takes out the Pejorative Slured “duhhh our goalies are good excuse” when it gets questioned because nobody seems to have the wherewithal to ask “what happens if one gets hurt.”

Even if Skinner was a shoe in for the Vezina, not getting a redundancy for injury is flat out inexcusable and fireable for both of them.

(I don’t want this to blow up, by the way, but f*** this is ridiculous).
If Stu is out and we get bounced maybe he gets another crack next season. If we are going down in flames I want him here healthy and manning the net so that at season's end there is no way in hell that he can come back for next season. f*** you (Schwartz) and your little dog Stu!
