I'm curious what you believe living up to the hype would be if a 102 point selke votes season is not good enough.

I mean he has been bad offensively for a while here, but I think he's shown enough to validate the hype and potential.
Laf was never going to be anything a year and a half ago. Players go through horrible stretches, Petey is in the middle of a longer one

His "injury" situation is just confusing to me.

He said he was injured the 2nd half of last year+playoffs, which is why he under-performed, but you had the Canucks staff disagreeing.

Now at the beginning of this season he said he had some tendinitis, but that it should be fine, but now it's looking like he IS injured.

Have the Canucks changed their medical staff that multiple players have called out or had issue with over the last 3 years?

Jason Dickinson had a broken hand there he played through. There was the Pearson issue, and some other players. I don't see trusting them and players lie to downplay injuries consistently

At this point he will be "injured" for entirety of his contract

He’s hurt and it’s impacted his offense. It’s his knee. Has to be.

You can see the difference between when he’s at his best and this start since the tendinitis complaint.

His defense is actually better now though at the moment, so it’s not an effort thing.

If he has health issues, why does the coach ,etc all basically say he doesn't lol. Why are they not protecting him.

He’s obviously not as bad as he’s playing right now, but I found it hilarious whenever fans called him a top-5 talent in the NHL, or has potential to win an Art Ross.
There were media in Vancouver a couple years ago that said there is an argument that he is the best forward in the pacific division

I always had the impression that he didn’t want to stay in Vancouver, but they threw so much money in his face he couldn’t say no

I have to commend the breadth and depth of analysis regarding his sudden lack of production.

From phantom injuries to mental health issues, to the flex on his stick, to his linemates, to his instagram GF, this is why I come to HF.

I can only hope to hear about a shift in breakfast cereals.
Yeah maybe we should try not discussing things on a discussion board!

I think he's just too soft for the smaller ice. On bigger ice he'd have more time to avoid contact.

Hockey is a collision sport. You can't play scared. Age old story, guy got a guaranteed 90+ mil contract and thought "hey, why exactly would I break my body when I'm already guaranteed a lifetime of money?"
