He’s obviously not as bad as he’s playing right now, but I found it hilarious whenever fans called him a top-5 talent in the NHL, or has potential to win an Art Ross.

He sucked to start last season too, only difference is he was picking up loads of points. Many insisted he was 'injured' then, despite never missing a game.
He was only good in January playing winger on Millers line. His production fell off, but he was mostly the same limp dink you see now the entire year.

Even in his 100p season, dude refused to shoot, and would just fall down in the corner on the PP. Only 6 pp goals that year despite having the main 1 timer position.

The 2 seasons before that, he couldn't even skate, was pushed down the lineup by both coaches.

His bubble playoffs make many forget that his 2nd season was rather mediocre as well, the line carried by JT.

Dude peaked as a rookie. That was the only time he looked like someone that could beat any goalie in the league, try creative passing plays, and could score in all situations. He's been a wet noodle the majority of the time since.
What’s your theory about what happened?

I just think it’s mental for him. I think he lets things get to him way too much. Doesn’t know how to handle all the bad media and constant talk about him and his struggles. Can’t handle being called out. That’s not his personality…he’s not gonna play better with people on him. I honestly think he needs a new team, new place to call home and kinda reset. The kid is Uber talented, there’s absolutely no question. He just has to figure out a way to block out the noise and keep his head on straight.
