Player Discussion Tim Stützle - (C) - Part VI

If it's Tom Wilson doing that on Stutzle, Brady is going to jump in and take care of it. Gallagher is a rat that can't physically impose himself on anyone and Stutzle took care of it.
No he didn't. He hit him from behind and then Anderson came over and blew him away with a late hit. No reaction again. But if you read what I am saying, it is about more than 1 play or 1 player.
You have to be selective. If Cousins was agitating Marner and the leafs take a penalty to stand up to it, we win that transaction. Cousins won't stop being a pest, we get a PP, and Marner will still get bothered. Timmy can handle himself against the rats.
Again, you are bringing this back to single players.
Can't believe anyone sits around in the dressing room with fear thinking about how Gallagher called Stutzle out years ago lol. He's the bigger loser whining about things being unfair like a toddler
I never mentioned fear or guys sitting around worrying about Gallagher. You are making up your version of what I am saying so you can create an answer you want to say.

Put it this way, even in my men's league, if someone was harassing a top player, guys would step up. It's the NHL and Stu is one of our stars - the wolf pack mentality is important and I wish we would show more snarl.

One play, one player, whatever. Your top guys are going to be targeted, that's a given. If you freak out about it every time, then you lose the war. Anderson and Gallagher went after Stu and it didn't work, Ottawa won the game, and those 2 were quiet in the end because they couldn't rattle Stutzle.

This bravado shit about sending a message is TV fodder meant to stir up the fans. It would have been stupid to go after those guys in that situation.

YeaH the answer to that is our big guy hitting and being a pest on their skill player. Same thing will happen in our series Reaves will target him Hayes and their scrub too cause they know Stu can make their team look bad.we jsut have to do same to Matthews,Marner and Nylander. You don't need to fight just make them pay the same way. They will probably stop doing it for their own players

No, it isn't whatever

Of course it's a given. Taking it without any response is not a given.

Nobody is freaking out or expecting any players to freak out. You say, "every time". How about every 20 or 30 times? Also, its the regular season, there is no war.

I never suggested Stu is rattled. I am sure he would love to see someone do something though.

We completely disagree on how pro sports, and the NHL in particular, works.

They have multiple games against those teams every year and even in the last game, there was time after we were handling them to do something. Doing something doesn't mean you take a stupid penalty either. Do you think I am talking about line brawls or what? You can line guys up and hit guys when you really want - be more physical.

And with the playoffs specifically, Toronto has more to worry about because they don't have an answer to Tkachuk and we have better rats on our side overall.

Just send out Cousins to do the same to Caufield and Hutson.

He’s on the latest episode of Spittin’ Chicklets

Really insightful interview.

I also thought it was interesting to hear his side of the contract negotiations. Sounds like Stutzle wanted 8x8, and his agent said no. So Stutzle let him negotiate up 8.35 before he made his agent sign it. It also sounded like Tkachuk being at around 8m was a factor.

I wouldn't be surprised if something similar happened with Sanderson. Seems like the core is content at 8m to give the team some cap space to play with.

The Leafs do this almost every time.

The difference is that their backchecking forwards are hustling back to pick up trailers.
Marner and Nylander especially are extremely smart, they know how to manipulate the ice to get favourable lanes for their linemates.

Not sure the Sens have any guys who do that up front, with regularity at the very least.

Alfredsson was one of the best to ever do it

I love Stutzle's passion but this is something he would have to learn to do to take his game to the next level.

If he watches a few minutes of Nathan Mackinnon game tape, he'd understand the value of the button hook for a plus skater like himself.

The issue is, he never seems to have plus skaters on his wings to drive the lanes a button hook would open up.

That's on Steve Staios to rectify. Giroux ain't it - need a first line athlete to go along with Tim and Brady.

Proud of his game last night. Couldn’t bury one but he gave it all he had. I may have asked him to tone down on the hitting but love the emotion. Best player on the ice last night.
I'm expecting another step next season.

Had a nice tip that hit the post, great toe drag into the slot for a shot.

Some slick setups that almost connected. Jammed up by a pass in his feet that would have been great goal as well. Awesome physicality all series.

Great series and year for Tim. Focused on defense and what was best for the team all year. Sacrificed some offense, but still produced well on a defense first team.

Can't wait to see how he looks next year after an offseason off training and building off his defensive game from this season.

Would be amazing to find a scoring winger to play with Tim.

Despite not scoring as much as we needed him to, he was probably our best forward with how he drove the play. His speed and tenacity are 2nd to none, and as soon as he starts picking better shots he'll rack up goals. He only too 32 face offs (4th on the team) but he was 53% on the dot. Hoping he hits that number in the regular season and would like to see him on the PK because his speed would be very valuable there. He led all forwards in hits as well.

Future is bright on his end.
