What happened to Tim Kerr in the 1989 playoffs? Here's his weird stats that spring:

Round 1 vs. Washington
-- 10 points in 6 games (actually 5 games, as he was tossed six minutes into game six)
-- Scoring rank: 1st among both clubs

Round 2 vs. Pittsburgh
-- 15 points in 7 games
-- Scoring rank: 1st among both clubs (Kerr out-goaled and out-pointed Mario Lemieux!)

(At this point, Kerr was leading the entire playoff in scoring, 3 points ahead of Gretzky)

Round 3 vs. Montreal
-- 0 points in 6 games
-- Scoring rank: Tied for 26th among both clubs

Did something happen in game seven of the Pittsburgh series to injure him? He was still playing in the third period, as he picked up an assist then.

By the way, it's crazy how quickly Kerr declined as a soft-touch goal scorer. In the regular season, he failed to score on any of his final 58 shots on goal in 1991 and 1992. I know he had all sorts of injury issues (mainly shoulder) and off-ice tragedy, but was the broken thumb the main reason for this sudden loss of touch?
