Tie Domi was such a piece of ****.

Exhibit A - already mentioned, his cheap shot on Niedermayer.

Here's Exhibit B

Jump to 0:45, Kaberle's got a Flyers player tied up and Domi swoops in and gives him a couple healthy shots - and then runs scared and literally hides behind Kaberle, until the ref comes in to hold back Richardson. Then he starts flapping his gums again and acting tough.

Doesn't get more chicken**** than that, IMO.

wow…what a p***y

Didn't watch seriously back then, too young. From what I know he was a great defensive player and extremely important to his team, threw constant great hits. Was just thinking about the fighting side of things, never knew he went head to head with the big guys
You would mostly know him from the highlights and he certainly tossed his body around but the big hits were not the main aspect of his game. I didn't like him because he was prone to headhunting but otherwise he played a surprisingly clean game. Dirty at times but not mostly.

This isn't the first time he's tried to be relevant crying this exact same narrative. Complete tool.

Here he is with less than a minute left in a 5-1 game, jumping Shaun Van Allen who was wearing a cage because his jaw was broken:

Ultimate loser. His greatest accomplishment is his name being an anagram for "Me Idiot".

Or how he suckers Samuelsson.

Stevens was a Norris level Dman. Domi was a useless player that was only in the league to fight others like him from other teams.

He can try to make himself sound relevant, and Stevens irrelevant all he wants, but Stevens was a terrific player. Domi was a sideshow goon. He would've bit the heads off chickens on the ice if it would help him stay in the league.

Stevens was a Norris caliber defensemen, 3 time champ, playoff MVP and HOF player.

Domi was a plug and didn’t amount to the level Stevens was.

Why is this even a thread for f*** sakes.

This is pretty rich coming from a plug that frequently targeted star players.
I always find it laughable when tough guys call out players who play over 20 minutes a game regarding not getting a fight with them.
If you are playing around 5-7 minutes a game why would someone who plays 22 plus minutes entertain the thought of a fight?

if these tough guys were more impactful players they could play 15 minutes a game.

sure you are likely the better the fighter but the player you are asking to fight is a much better hockey player and would rather remain on the ice.

Scott Stevens is a Hall of Famer and 3 time Cup winning captain. Tie Domi is a disgrace to the game and to himself, exhibit A

Showing just that clip without showing what led up to it is like showing a dog biting someone without showing that same someone kicking the dog first. Hide the truth!

Never answered the bell? Sure thing Tie. That's a weird thing to say about a guy with over 100 career fights.

I'm guessing it's more of a function of knowing taking himself off the ice for 5 minutes with Domi is a terrible trade off.

Even in retirement Domi is still a clown.

Notables on Stevens fight card:

Nilan, McRae, Brashear, McCarthy, Manson, Probert...

Gee, Tie, I wonder why the captain who plays 22-25 minutes a night didn't want to take himself off the ice for a 5 minute major (or more) to simply answer to you when you felt necessary to fight. Real f***ing mystery there, fathead.

Stevens fought plenty of times early in his career. In NJ, he was too valuable to take himself off the ice for 5 minutes at a time. Domi should stick to sucker punching.
Give me a break njd had plenty of other capable defenders. Too valuable my ass.

Scott Stevens was a dirty pos, and Domi is right on this one. Stevens played in an era where obstruction and headshots=elite defense. For the era he played in, he was great.

However, his value in today's game would be drastically less than it was back then.
Stevens played in league from 1983 to 2004. Just how long do you think the dead puck era was?

Again, this just regurgitates the myth that Stevens ran around braining guys throughout his 20 years in the league based on his top 1o hits. Most of hit hits were legal and still would be today. He was a more lethal Kronwall.

You can call it predatory but the vast majority of his hits were with skates on the ice, elbows tucked, and a devastating hit to the players body, which makes head contact incidental and legal.

Also I hated Stevens when he played and am sick of defending him but the revisionist history here drives me nuts.
