I guess the relocation/upgrade period has concluded.

Actually the online tool still shows some seats available....mostly singles.

Does anyone remember in the add-a-seat round if you are locked into your first choice? I.E. if you choose a pair and then a better selection pops up, can you swap out the pair you just added or it's too late?

When does the add-a-seat round start?

I spoke with my rep yesterday and she said it starts on Monday.

From the email about adding seats:
"We are excited to give you the opportunity to purchase additional seats for your New York Rangers subscription for the 2013-14 season! Listed below is some important information about purchasing additional seats for the upcoming season including your scheduled opportunity to view available seating based on your previous indicated interest.

We are pleased to continue to offer our Virtual Venue tool that will provide you with the ability to view and select the best available seats according to your individual preferences directly from your computer. It will also allow you to access available seating any time after your appointment day and time so you can continue to search for additional seating locations anytime. "

I'm assuming this means you can continually move your seat location as people give up their old seats just like during the upgrade process, but I didn't ask if this were true or not.

Ok thanks, my appointment is also Monday so I guess everyone goes in at the same time. I would read that second part the same way you did. I wonder if that also means you can still shift your original seats. I'm not sure how they would allow you to change one pair of seats but not the other.

Also wondering when the Knicks start their upgrades, my appointment is on the 17th

So, did everyone get what they wanted this upgrade period? I got the downgrade I was looking for...so I can't complain. Needed to dump my pair of Row 1s and was able to move back a row, sliding into the much better value Row 2 Gallery seats.

How were you able to downgrade? Could you choose from any price point?

When it was time for my upgrade I called up and told them I needed to move out of my Row 1 pair as they had priced me out with the recent increase. They gave me a hard time about it, but ultimately said I could replace my Row 1 pair ($135/seat) with corner lower bowl seats ($118) or the center gallery Row 2 ($100) or the goal gallery Row 2 ($82). They wouldn't let me go below the $82 price point, which was fine with me. The Row 1s were just not worth it to me.

I find it very disgusting that they would not let you downgrade to whatever made financial sense. Imposing the $82 price point as a floor seems very unprofessional on their part... Sometimes your life situation changes, and you can no longer spend money on items you could freely in the past... Marriage / kids / house / job...

Thanks for the info, glad to hear you were able to make it happen!
I would love the gallery row 2... but with my minimal tenure and refusal to renew without knowing if I could downgrade I am in the final "barely before the general public" phase next week.

MSG is really trying hard to hammer people with those overpriced seats. Seven years ago I got 4 seats in the 200,s. At the the end of the season I explained to my rep. that I couldn,t justify the price and he went out of his way to accommodate me. I got 6 seats in the 300,s and was actually paying less for 6 seats than I had been with 4. My rep said this was no problem and I was very happy. Now it seems like MSG treats the upper bowl like gold if you are not already a STH.

Well to be honest I have no interest in the Row 15 and up seats in the upper bowl. Perhaps I would take something in the $76 price point in a lower row...but there really wasn't much available there anyway.

But yeah, this whole "no downgrades" thing is disgusting. If I'm a subscriber for 1 year or 10 years and I want to "relocate" my seats why am I not entitled to view every available seat in the Garden and decide where to move to? It's really a joke. I get that the cheaper seats are easier to sell...but you know what, that shouldn't be my problem if you make the prices too high.

I suspect that the internal, official policy is to deny downgrades as much as humanly possible and that if the subscriber insists, go ahead and let them but don't make it easy. I bet that if you had $1000 seats on the glass and wanted to move to the blues, they would let you after you called them every single day and wrote them angry letters by certified mail

Good luck next week...hopefully you get something. If it doesn't work out for you I'm happy to let you try out a few games in the Row 2s. Keep us posted.

Yup. I believe you are right. I was ready to tell them to just delete the pair of Row 1s from my account and be done with it if they were going to stick to their guns about it. What were they going to say, you can't cancel some of your seats?

Yeah, this year my 3 in Row 2 will cost ($246/game) while my 2 in Row 1 would have cost me ($270). No way I could justify spending $22 more to have 1 less seat, being that we're talking 1 row difference.

I am scheduled to go Tuesday at noon. You think there will be any seats in the upper bowl available? I'm looking for a pair.

Good question. At the end of the regular relocation period there were mostly singles left. Perhaps they hold some seats back for this process? Are you a new subscriber or are you looking to add a pair to your account?

I'm looking to add to my account.
