Where is there proof Necas blocked a trade? He doesnt have a NMC/NTC.Fine you can assume Bryam and Peterka are being lost anyway. Necas blocked a trade to Buffalo in the off-season, but sure maybe he changed his mind since then.
Your proposal gives Buffalo Calgary 2026 1st, Calgary 2027 2nd, and Huberdeau. An offer sheet Buffalo wouldn't sign would be worth more. At a minimum Buffalo would get 2x 1st, 2x 2nd, 2x 3rd, and they'll be in 2026 not 2027.
Huberdeau's contract sucks now, and it's going to suck in the future. In Calgary he's put up 60+ points once. He's about to turn 32, Calgary is a substantially better team than Buffalo. PLUS in your scenario Buffalo trades away their top line Winger, a top Pairing Defensemen for a pair of 1sts. How are they going to leverage Huberdeau?

You guys cant complain about not being able to attract UFAs, then decline one that is offered. EP40 and Huberdeu's contracts both look bad right now, but also both would have an insane amount more offensive talent in Buffalo to work with.
When Buffalo signs their RFAs they will be within $1M if the cap.Youre not going to get J Hughes's contract magically dropped on you. You need to trade for one you think you can refurbish. The Sabres already dont spend to the cap and the cap is rising $25M in 2 years, $10M will be the new $7M.
We take on a big contract with term while losing a top six winger who has room to improve a top line winger who can drive play and a top 4 dman with top pair potential necas is great but the value we lose in comparison isn't worth considering if you can get necas in a three way trade based around the 9th pick and Byram/jjp sure but I think a better deal involves 9th pick and other futures for someone like AnderssonI actually think CGY gets the crap end of this, but gets out of Hubbys deal. Buffalo gets the most but their fans are delusional overvaluing RFA's that want to leave and assuming Tuch will stay. Basically a wash for COL
Yeah and he also only had 8 secondary assists. He had 54 primary points. That's only 1 less than both Eichel and Keller, who both finished with 90+ points. This season, when Huberdeau wasn't on the ice is was nearly impossible for Calgary to score. You can try and paint a brush over it all you want since you didn't watch the games but he had a very good season.Jonathan Huberdeau, (a career 12.2% shooter over 800+ games prior to this year) shot 18.3%, a career high. Despite this, and PP1 time, he still had 60 points for 10.5 mill. Oh and he's 32

I'm not saying he is worth his contract, I'm saying he had a much better season than his total points indicate. He was quite easily one of the Flames best players this yearBut did he have a 10M season? CGY's xG% 5v5 was basically the same with or without him.
