Well coached team with hungry players. Our guys are the idiots who go out drinking four times a week, never show up to class and are then surprised that the final exam they crammed for got an F.
Our players are very well fed. They're food, and they're ego's. They don't even need any sort of desert......which would be winning. You know, like a little icing on top of a cake?

This game was also a microcosm of why I’ve been beyond done with Panarin.

He looked great in that opening 20 in Boston and has been lukewarm or ass since. Not a guy who looks even remotely motivated.
He’s not a franchise player on a winning team. He is and always has been a one dimensional player and the goodness of that one dimension has been declining for a couple years now. Really, really wish they’d trade him this year and recoup some youth for the next contention window.

He did the same thing on our first western Canada trip. He’s just too quick to change things up. Sometimes familiarity is a virtue.

All of last year we complained about him not changing things up. There's no one right way to do it. But what I do know he has lost the team and it doesn't matter if he stays with the same lines or mixes them up every shift. He f***ing blows.

I mean, to be fair, every line since the JTM trade has been shit besides his line. That can't continue.

I still don't understand why Miller casued Laviolette to nuke the forward lines. The Trocheck line from last year went stale but it was still our best line pre-Miller offensively (not counting the defunct Chytil line with Kakko and Cuylle). The Mika line was playing better but an upgrade of Mika to Miller would have probably allowed the line to actually produce rather than just create chances. And Miller as a 3C is much better than Brod. Just one change was needed and Laviolette as @Machinehead would say Galaxy Brained it.

Laviolette is an utter disgrace of a coach. If Drury had any f***ing balls he'd f***ing fire him before tomorrow's game. But he won't. Just like he gave in on the 11.5M anchor of a contract.

Well he should’ve hired Knoblauch, but he predictably and lazily hired the retread. Of course the Oilers benefit from that. It was such an easy hire to make but whatever.

A couple things---you have to think the Penguins players knew that to have any chance to win tonight they would have to come with their best games. So maybe there were some Rangers players who thought it would be an easy one and took this for granted. Many of our team did not come with their best game and we got outworked and because of that we lost.

So the other thing is this up and down emotional thing that players and fans go through. It's like a f***ing big tease. The highs of thinking we're back on track vs. the lows of 'no we're not we suck' and there's only so long doing that before you run out of reality and time. We've been chasing the season and pretty soon there will be nothing left to chase. Personally I think the reality is this team is going to fall short. We may even keep our 1st rounder for this year.

Whatever Drury does---the first thing he shouldn't do is rent---probably the second thing he should do is sell and if he's going to do any buying be very careful.

I'm so frustrated with this organization

The first thing should be he shouldn't be allowed to do anything, can his ass and let someone with a vision for the future of this team be the gm

Save us, Tom Wilson

He's the reason we're in this mess, Gorton was on the right path.

It's a rotten, entitled and arrogant group. You're 5 points out of the playoffs, you can't look past anyone. EVery single game needs to be treated like a playoff game. Is Lafreniere dogging a backcheck like that if it's the ECF? No, regardless of how tired he is. But it's okay in a regular season game when you're 5 points out of a playoff spot and desperately need points? Lafreniere turns in an effort like that, why? Because he watches every single other veteran on this team do it every single game with zero consequences. It's in his blood now.

It's a rotten group, a complacent and arrogant group of veterans poisoning everyone and everything around them. It's not the coach, it's not the staff, it's not the fringe players in the lineup. It's the core. Panarin, Kreider, Zibanejad, Fox, Lafreniere, Trocheck, Igor. Not one player in that group has lived up to what they should be. They all got paid, get treated like royalty as Rangers. No attention to detail lackluster effort, endless hope plays, no solid hockey. It's shinny out there.

Every single player on the team should be embarrassed.

Igor in particular has really, really let the team down. He has been absolute dogshit for weeks now with pretty decent defense in front of him. And game after game after game he gives up shorties, he fails to make the big saves when they're needed, he's leaky, he is unable to elevate the team. The media fawns over this guy endlessly but this year it's undeserved. He's not a victim of poor play you see people making excuses for him online, no, he's one of the conductors of this train going off the rails. Elite goalies are paid to elevate their teams and make up for their mistakes. You don't pay a goalie 11.5m a season to give up the same goals every other average goalie would.

Well that might come at season's end. I don't think it will come before then. What happens often though is some of the scouts go with him. You fire your GM---you need time for the new guy to prepare for the draft and free agency. If we're out by mid-April and Drury's fired that's a 2 month window to work with and really it's closer to 4/5 weeks so he has enough time to prepare and that's if at least most of the scouts are coming back. So making a list of who might be available replacement candidates should also be in the works before firing the GM. That's something that could start anytime though.

Fire Drury? Why? He got rid of our worst forward over the summer, the players pouted. He got rid of our worst or second worst defenseman in season, the team pouted. This roster is better than their results. Drury isn’t the best GM around but why are we again taking the blame off the players? It’s not Drury. It’s not Laviolette, although he has more blame than Drury bc he’s the coach but again, it’s the players.

This clusterf*** isn’t because of Drury and it’s not because of Laviolette. It’s because of this core group of players being mentally weak, being lazy, playing lazy, being entitled and not being hard workers. On paper (what the GM can control) this team should be an easy playoff team. Is it Drury’s fault Igor has been complete shit this season? Is it his fault the players are lazy and never are ready to play?

Fire Drury, don’t fire Drury - it doesn’t matter with this core group of players. They’re rotten. I coach can save them, no GM can save them. Only the players can save themselves and they’ve clearly shown they’re unwilling to change. How many coaches are we going to give them? We’re going to give this core their 4th coach and 3rd GM?

It's funny. Every time you dare question 11.5M man people bring up the playoffs as if he's not completely bombing right now and will eliminate us even before the playoffs. These games are just as important as the playoffs. It's not just Igor but just thought this was a good time to mention that. The rest of the team is a f***ing arrogant. They think their shit doesn't stink and in games against inferior opponents working hard is beneath them. That arrogance is misplaced. They think they're still in the running for the Presidents' Trophy but instead they're the running for a f***ing lottery pick.

Why?
He traded Kakko, spoiler alert he wasn't an issue.
Buchnevich deal
He gave Mika a full nmc
He signed Goodrow to that dumb deal he had to get out of
His dealings with Trouba(ie not getting it done in the summer) as well as how he had to bail on his Goodrow contract lead to the worst contract we currently have and it's our goalie, highest paid in the league with a full nmc for it's entirety.
Hes kept Laviolette around wayyyyy too long
He continues to keep guys like Vesey and Brodzinsky around instead of giving opportunities to guys who might have an actual nhl future.
Traded for Smith, who is a 3rd line player you could have found in free agency.
Finally if the core is rotten, why keep them around. Kreider can be moved, Lindgren can be moved, Zib can't because of Drury but I'm sure he could find a way

The only thing I'm ok with is the Miller deal and the Trouba deal, but it should have happened in the summer

I agree with the Miller trade if it was done in the off-season, coming off the season we had. Doing it when there's clearly a defensive issue on this team is maddening. We keep trading young players with talent and trading for older players that clearly aren't fit for the system we play. Miller is NOT fit for this system. He's a grinder that can't grind by himself, and no one is going to go chasing pucks but him. None of these trades are making the team better. We're the same f***ing team we've been since Lindgren got back in the lineup after we went on an early season tear.
