OT: Thread About Nothing (part # who cares)

My youngest wants to learn to drive a manual transmission. So I'm going to get an extra old car for that purpose since you cannot rent them anymore near me. In looking, I'm running across plenty of people who have no idea what to ask for a car that has 233,000 miles on it that is hardly in mint condition. But I think the craziest are the guys who spend $10k to modify a $5k car and think they can get $15k back and of course the Jeep crowd who customize those and again expect people to pay a grossly inflated price. Does anyone really spend $10k on a 1999 Wrangler with 185k miles and numerous issues?

I learned how to ride a little dirt bike when I was like 10 and that burned in the throttle, clutch, gear shift timing without much that can go wrong. Transferring that from motorcycle to a manual car was super easy. Might be an alternative if you want to have a dual purpose bike around to play on.

I have always been a car guy. My wife knew that when she married me. I've had numerous impractical cars and she put up with it because it's me. But I've never been a motorcycle guy. I think she'd say no outright as a boyfriend of hers in high school had a motorcycle accident.
