OT: Thread About Nothing (part # who cares)

Thinking of y’all affected by the fires

For us, Western NC is still devastated and it’s been 18+ months. Really hate to see these disasters.

There are parts of Lake Charles Louisiana that still look devastated years later. The secondary parts of the country are not brought back as quickly as they should be.

Gave away ~40 “intro” flies to a dad/kid who are getting into fly fishing. Really hoping they get some good use out of them.

Appalachia has some great trout fisheries if you know where to look
That's awesome. I love to tie flies for friends.

During Covid I fished western NC and Tennessee. Beautiful place. Had a cabin in Bryson City. Fished from there to Boone then went over to fish the South Holston in TN

I'm currently in Utah for work. As Dougie would say, I don't know anything about Utah.

But it is pretty here.
You have a rod with you?

If you flew into SLC, (is there even another place to fly into?) you're not far from the Provo river. From Park City down to Heber City between the reservoirs along River road. Plus Park City is worth visiting.

Lots of mule deer and elk in the area too

@My3Sons you going to JazzFest?

Not this weekend. My youngest is finishing his last final and I have to get him home this weekend. I’ll be in Gainesville. I’ll see about next weekend. I’m getting old to stand in a field all day so I tend to go to the stuff that spills over around town. A few years ago I saw Robert Plant at Preservation Hall. I sat five feet from him singing. It was insane. Much better experience than standing in the tent waiting for him to take the stage.

A couple of years ago, my wife and I went to see a group of bands play at The Sultan’s Room in Brooklyn, culminating in a solo set by the lead singer of Titus Andronicus. We had just missed the performance by this band. I managed to check out their album on Spotify and I liked it.

They released this song today, perhaps not coincidentally on Friday, aka Shabbat. It’s dedicated to the women in the lead singer’s family. It’s one of the most beautiful, heartfelt songs I’ve heard in a while, it almost makes me cry. If I had my way, it would be a fixture at Shabbat gatherings with guitars the world over. My wife thinks it’s very touching and once the twins are out with family, we’ll be playing it at our Shabbat dinners.

Okay just had to get this in here. I was desperate for a hotel on the hood canal cuz My son is doing his Open water dive cert and we're going sea kayaking and it's oyster season and the whole place is booked up.
Vrbo hooked me up with this place. Someone's grandma died + some grandson lovingly cleaned every f****** thing here. And I'm really not sure how to feel about it. Five stars one star a million stars. How the hell do I rate this thing.

Did a witch live here?

It's literally stepping back in time to 1979. All the appliances have cloth insulation. Do I die here of hantiavrus? Electro fire. Clearly this it was a missed opportunity to have absolutely ridiculous night on mushrooms.

The views are insane, there's a fireplace or wood burning stove in every room, pool table. I'm here with high school buddies and my son. If it had been my wife she would have shot me. Thoughts? Advice?

That definitely looks like a place that would be in a horror movie where everyone dies except for one person who makes it out so good luck to you and if you don't post again then we know what happened lol
