We saw his good and bad tonight I thought.

Good skating, but slow decisions and processing of plays. His giveaway in OT right in front of Ullmark almost led to us losing.

Overall he is so much better, but man...he had a few really bad bone headed plays.
Yup. Usually that OT giveaway would have ended up a goal. And it almost did. We were lucky it stayed out.
And I was saying to myself the whole time…Don’t give it to malkin cause it just happens too often with him.
A couple others that game as well.
Earlier I posted that we can’t have him on the team if he’s going to play like that (after his earlier giveaway).

Very different conversation here if that OT shot went in and we lost because of him.

So…in conclusion even though he’s playing much better it’s not good enough imo and I’d still like him moved if possible.

Moving Chabot would be a mistake at this stage. He’s been very good this year overall.
If he’s moved then obviously he needs to replaced with a better player.
Like we did with chychrun.
Easier said than done and probably unrealistic considering his salary.

Let’s just hope he can clean up the bonehead mistakes and problem solved (somewhat)

Every D that has the puck as much as Chabot makes mistakes. It happens to Makar, Hughes, etc…

He gave the puck to malkin in OT while I was saying to myself “for christs sake Chabby don’t give the puck to malkin”.
He makes those terrible plays too often for a reliable top player. Holds on to the puck way too long and shoots it right at the opposition or crumbles and hands it over.
Can cost us important games. No other player on the team makes as many mistakes like this as he does.
I’m saying that’s a problem.

Agree with this.

Chabot has improved this year, but I still have serious doubts if a team can win playoff games with his deficiencies. He has some of the highest skill in the league, but it comes with lots of negatives, and he's incredibly soft as well.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't

Playing phenominally. Obviously one of the best transition guys in the league. Leads the team in ES icetime, 2nd in overall icetime, 2nd in shots, 2nd in points for D, 1st in points at ES for D, 2nd in +/- (+24 over Sanderson). He's 2nd in giveaways; he has 41, Sanderson has 44, Jensen has 34, so all extremely similar, and 2nd in takeaways.

He and Jensen are playing like a top 5 pair in the entire league.

Advanced wise, Chabot leads the team in:
Corsi
Corsi relative
Fenwick
Fenwick relative
Point Shares

The team is doing very well when Chabot/Jensen is on the ice, they are not doing very well when they are off the ice

Now imagine if we didn’t have Hamonic kneecapping Sanderson, we’d be so much better.

We have three really good dmen on this team. Trading one right when you’re finally turning the corner on this rebuild makes no sense to me. Especially considering Jensen is 34 years old.

Sens need to add good dmen not subtract them.

Yeah, with Zub being out for so many games this season, the real downside of that is the effect on our pairings and what that means for Sanderson. It has certainly affected his play so far this year.

Chabot has basically resumed his spot as the #1 D on this team because of the downturn in the play of Sanderson. It is amazing to me how Chabot can look so great rushing the puck or jumping into the play in the offensive zone. Playing with Jensen has really helped his game this season.

On the flip side of that is all the bad turnovers and mental mistakes that he makes.
He seems to want to try and force things or make things happen that are just not there.
He definitely has the ability to be a game breaker in a good way and in a bad way.

With Chabot, your forced to have to take the bad with the good and hope it works out in the end.
That Pittsburgh game was an excellent example of the two sides of Chabot. He made some incredible plays and then he made some terrible plays, but it worked out in the end.
