Funny how they can rank players they probably never even seen play before.
I mean for example how many games of the Danish league have these THN guys seen? My guess is 0.

LOL hall of fame poster eh LMAO...you just lost your hall of fame status with one quote...

Crosby kind of dominated eh...Fleury is a pretty good goalie eh...Lecavalier kind of became a star...u know then the rest like Gilbert Perreault, Mario Lemieux etc etc etc
Why do you guys keep on saying that Crosby came from the Q?

IMO there is no way they go with Couturier. There are so few successful top 3 pick forwards that come from the Q. When's the last time a 1st, 2nd or 3rd overall pick forward from the Q actually came to the NHL and dominated for even 1 season?

Couturier should have gone to the OHL or WHL.

More recent than the last time a top 3 pick from the Q busted.

Top 3 picks from the Q since 1980:

All-Stars:
Pierre Turgeon
Denis Savard
Pat Lafontaine
Mario Lemieux
Vincent Lecavalier
Sidney Crosby

Solid NHL players:
Marc-Andre Fleury
Sylvain Turgeon (Probably an all-star if not for injuries)
Jimmy Carson
J.P. Dumont

Busts:
Alexandre Daigle

So yeah, 1 bust in 30 years. You were saying?

THN list 2011

Speaking on the Q list..granted you can always debate a guy over another guy BUT ANY hockey organization that has Shaw and Andrews over Beaulieu and Phillips has clearly not spent enuff time in preparing their lists or enuf time in the rinks.Beaulieu is a 6'2 puck moving defenceman with terrific hands and a high compete level, and if you take Shaws two years in the league and Andrews year and total their production it wouldnt match Phillips total and he played 4th line on a stacked team.

Shaw Andrews are 5-7 round guys, Beaulieau/Phillips are mid 2nd round guys if not higher, IMO.

I don't get the point of what you're trying to say? I'm sure the editors/writers/compilers of these lists have contacts they have consulted who have seen more obscure prospects from overseas play at semi-regular intervals.

Just because The Hockey News hasn't seen multiple games of each prospect in person, they should be precluded from initiating or participating in prospect conversation or rankings?

Would you rather a prospect in the Danish league not get discussed whatsoever and stand to gain no notoriety?

I just don't understand what you're trying to prove or say. It's pretty impossible to watch thousands of games. THN is a leading hockey publication, they have a lot of bases to cover and they are trying their best to give attention to everything that is noteworthy in the hockey world.

I'm saying I find it funny that players like Jensen and Lessio who have played in very weak leagues are ranked above players that have had very impressive rookie seasons in the OHL.

Beaulieu has a realy good package of skills already and has a big upside. He's not 6"2" but 6"3" 190 pounds. Playing for Saint-John is probably a tickett for the memorial cup. He can make the transition game more easier for the forwards, he can shot, skate well, can fight, great vision. At the WJC camp, Beaulieu and Couturier were the only 2 invites eligible for 2011 draft and Nathan was realy well. Im not sure he will be there this year because generally its a tournament for the 18-19 yo but I think he will be a member of Team Canada WJC next year. But remember you that Beaulieu is a late 92 so, he could be a member this year and that could influence his draft ranking a lot. He was realy great at the camp. I think he will be a top 15 at the end of the year. If someone can grab him in the 2nd round, it will be a steal!!!
