I don't think Sanheim needed to be in this deal, it sounds more like they were talking about Hayes, then Armstrong inquired about Sanheim, Briere said sure, what are you offering? Armstrong said X, but I have to move a contract to afford Sanheim, how about Krug? . . .

The leaking is not a Flyer thing, just spend any time on TSN, Daily Faceoff, etc. and you'll read rumors and speculation about every team.
In the age of twitter, podcasts and blogs, nothing goes on without comment.
There are so many sources of information, lower level staffers fluffing their ego as "insiders," player agents, third parties who received inquiries, etc.
And yet for years we saw little to no leaks regarding the Flyers, you think that’s just a coincidence that we see so many things now with the Flyers?

The change of tune from the STG crew once Jones was hired was a pretty clear indication of who was feeding them little tidbits.
No, tanking is when you trade players who could be part of a rebuild to deliberately get really bad.
Rebuilding is when you trade players who have no future and replace them with younger assets.

The difference is emphasis, tanking requires committing to being really bad, and even trading players at a discount to achieve that goal.

Rebuilding is a commitment to a long-term strategy to get younger and more talented, but not to deliberately try to be a bad team. A rebuilding team is more likely to add NHL ready prospects who can help them win in a year or two but are still consistent with the strategy.
Cool, so you changed the definition over the last few years. You 100% called it tanking and criticized it when people suggested cutting loose players that served no purpose here in favor of younger and players that may potentially serve a purpose. It happened. You can’t tell us otherwise because we were there and we’re not going to be gaslit.

I am with HC though in Sanheim's involvement/uninvolvment being bizarre. Perhaps it was part of a bigger three team deal for Krug, but one would think we'd have had that leaked.
I think it was just going to be a much larger deal that would’ve happened, not a straight Krug-Sanheim swap. They needed Krug to move to move the money work, but it seems they can’t find him another place to move to.

They're the exact same thing.

So after wack'n ma weeds, i feel out of the loop...so is the deal now looking like Hayes (50% retained) for the 25th?

Just waitin on that and a Deangelo insurrection in Carolina?

The national guys suck too, they just quote tweet each other like the local hacks. It's all so stupid. The only reason stuff leaks is because people in charge want it to leak. No one is an insider. No one is sneaky. They're all hacks that think what they do is incredibly important
This soo isn't true. Leaks happen from a laundry list of sources. One team in particular the GM's were going nuts trying to figure out the source and it ended being the person who drafted up contracts

Most definitely some leaks are by design, but man, many, many of these leaks are acquired form unlikely sources in the orgs

Here is the issue. Fletcher made so many bad moves that this club is a grease fire. Cleaning it up isn’t going to be easy or cheap.
Hayes and TDA have little value, not because of Tortorella’s use of them. Their value is low because they suck at hockey. Hayes can’t handle center ice any longer. Maybe it’s age, injuries or both but he’s a puck hogging slug on the ice now. TDA has burned his way through several rosters with his bad play and worse attitude. Hayes and TDA were easily two major disappointments on the club. If they were allowed to remain here their dissatisfaction with their roles would become a festering sore. The best solution is to get them out of here. It’s addition by subtraction. The FO is sending a message here to the players. They’re NFA. Come here in shape. Be ready to work and perform. It’s professional hockey. It’s time for the players to step up to that level of work and responsibility.
Thanks for your reply, renberg. I don't disagree generally about the addition by subtraction perspective, although there is a limit to subtracting actual value at the same time. Also, the originally deal had a big helping of addition in Krug (nearly same cap figure for an additional year) AND a reduction of subtraction in retaining on Hayes, which is pretty antithetical to the expressed purpose.

If he can get a 1st for just Hayes retained id be very impressed. I suppose its possoble they offered up 2 firsts if sanheim was included.

Also...Faulk has the same exact salary as Krug...why not just deal him instead?
Faulk is a good player

He's a RHD. And a better player than Krug.

Hayes at 50% should be the same return as the Laughton rumors 29 and a prospect. I'm happy the Krug thing happened as I didn't see enough in there to justify moving sanheim

So ASF says a low level Center prospect thats essentially a "lottery ticket"

I like and respect Torts .....you can take it from there

he had the team playing hard all year, many opposing teams stated that
Played so hard we ended up with the 7th overall pick, very tough to play against

So ASF says a low level Center prospect thats essentially a "lottery ticket"
