Rumor: Things Not Left Unsaid - Flyers Rumors And Media Mentions 4: Say, Say, Say What You Want But Don’t Play Games With My Attention

I don't even think Luchanko was really overdrafted. It was at the high end of his range for sure, but you look who was taken behind him and it's a lot of the same types of prospects. It's just their decision to pass on Buium, the last player from an obvious tier drop, and trade back. And it's not even like you can hang your hat on them getting great value out of the trade back. They already cashed the pick in to trade up for Spencer Gill in the second round which is historically a poor decision. :dunno:

Agreed and that's what I meant.

I said it before the draft, and i'll say it again now. I would HAPPILY take Helenius and Hage before i even asked Jett if that was his real name.

Everyone has their preferences but I don't think those two were that much better tier wise.

I feel reasonably confident Helenius is the same caliber prospect, even if the pro production makes one more comfortable. I said this in the summer, but I don’t even think it’s crazy to take the absolutely more physically toolsy guy if you’re comparing 3rd line-ish centers. Helenius has more skill, but it’s not more than average either, and he’s a little flatter across the board than I prefer. If he ends up better, it won’t be facepalm worthy.

Let's revisit this in a few years. Not in a "told you so" way, just to see where we stand. Because i'm fairly confident Helenius will be much better. But i've been wrong before and will be wrong several times again
