Rumor: Things Not Left Unsaid 3 - Flyers Rumors and Media Mentions: Never Ending Circles

Spoiler alert: The Flyers will not stink enough to draft one of the best centers in the draft (yet again). And since they've already tipped their hand and told the hockey world "They are going big game hunting" UFAs and their agents are licking their chops. The Flyers will fail to make a significant trade and opt for overpaying Sam Bennett on the open market by the tune of 9.3 mil x 7. Bennett will be 29 when the deal is inked and in 3 seasons, both he and Konecny will have seen better days, and the back half of their contracts will be horrific albatrosses that prohibit the club from making crucial signings at a more appropriate time.

Some things never change...

Soon Konecny and Bennett...
Etc...

I’m not a massive Frost fan, but we will be saying soon enough that his next contract was a lot better than Bennet’s.

It’s been clear for a very long time. They just want to sell tickets. I really don’t see how things will change unless fans demand a rebuild before getting season tickets or they sell the team. Those don’t seem very likely. I’ll always be a flyers fan, but I am looking forward to Atlanta getting a team since I’m now done here.

Exactly - every org paints themselves in a positive light. Look at the way they dealt with the Cutter situation… Made it seem like Cutter was acting like a baby and they didn’t do anything wrong.
I don't think we talk enough about how the Flyers traded BSchenn in large part because he never really worked at center here, and then he went to St Louis and immediately had a 70 point season playing center, then was the 2C on a Cup Champion. Hak was using Filppula as a center ahead of him at the end of 16-17....

Now I'm not claiming I knew all along the Schennter experiment would come good. Often times he looked a bit hopeless down the middle in orange and black. But clearly the Flyers were doing something wrong because he clicked as a center literally as soon as he moved to another team.

AIR, he was behind Giroux and Couturier at center and wanted to play ahead of one of them which wasn’t going to happen. The Flyers moved him out before he became an unhappy player in the room. The organization did Schenn a favor. Unfortunately the return in the trade ended up a bit light.

Sean Walker is only playing 16 minutes a night in Carolina. Would anyone be shocked to see Briere trade a second after the season to get him back?

This is the big move that I could totally see happening with this franchise.

The return was great, the team just decided that they were going to f*** up the development of both players.

With the Birds winning the SB, interest in the Flyers is really going to drop. Between SB celebrations and the start of ST for the Phillies, the Flyers are a nonentity going forward
In Tuesday’s Inky there wasn’t one word on the Flyers or hockey. Sure it’s mostly about the Eagles as it should be. However there were stories on the Sixers and Phillies. For the Flyers? Nada.

The return was good, but with hindsight the Flyers would have been better off keeping the 25 year old center they had, and going for it with Giroux and Voracek still in their primes. Also better off if they hadn't won the lottery and had taken Suzuki at 13.

Sure, if Schenn realized his potential here, we'd have been in a better place, but if we're playing the hindsight game, this doesn't crack the top 20 things I change from the past decade of darkness, tbh. I'm just saying that the issue with the trade wasn't the return, it was the circumstances that led to us feeling like we needed to make it.

This is it, didn't want to be 2LW or 3C, wanted 1-2C spot.

I submitted an article but it didn't get published

Headline: Flyers are unlikable, bad

Don't watch. Not worth it.

I don't have a problem with the Schenn situation. He was here I think for Lavy, Hak, and Chief. For whatever reason he wasn't jamming the way he did in STL. Sometimes that just happens, I don't think they f***ed up on him. I think he wasn't performing and they got a good return for him and he flourished in a different scenario (which also was a better team). Sometimes thems the breaks. I actually see the Schenn move as one of the better ones we made in recent years. Right time and right return. A rarity in these parts.
