I’d like it if the Flyers unloaded a little more. I know Kuzmenko and Pelletier haven’t played yet but I doubt they move the needle much. Looking at the Flyers roster, how they’ve played, and the standings, they have a very realistic shot of sitting 4th from the bottom before the lottery. If they draft in the top 4 they should come away with one of Martone, Hagens, Schaefer, or Misa. I’d call the season a “success” if that happens

Dobson is very interesting indeed. We know Jones loves him some size on the blueline...and hes a right handed shot!

I cant see them moving TK tho. Tippett? Maybe...but idk if NYI does that...even if the Flyers add.

Jesus, if the Flyers somehow offloaded Tippett's contract before the NTC kicks in, that would be really good.

If we draft a wing I'll KMS

But who?

Like the majority of the roster has little value as they are primarily 3rd/4th liners or younger players.

Abols - would clear waivers
Bobby Brink
Noah Cates - They love him and he is due for a contract extension..not going anywhere.
Coots - No Move Clause – effective through 2028-29 season; Modified Trade Clause – 2029-30 season – 10 team trade list...big contract, extremely difficult to move, would require big salary retention.
Deslauriers - lol.
Foerster - not being traded unless for a #1C.
Gaucher - ahl
Hathaway - Sure - whats his value, 3rd/4th rounder? To a contender looking for that type of player.
TK - Just signed in off season, Flyers love him.
Laughton - Prime Candidate that teams actually want but the flyers want huge return. The most beloved of all of gods children and future flyers president/gm/coach.
Michkov - Nope.
Poehling - Concussed.
Richard - AHL
Tippett - Concussed
Andrae - hope not.
Ellis - dead.
EJ - 6th/7th pick or no value.
Risto - Sure, please do.
Sanheim - NTC
Seeler - Future AHL Head coach
York - Maybe.
Zamula - injured
Ersson - needed
Fedotov - go for it...no value.

I don't see much value that would actually be traded.

---Truncated list for space purposes---

The value is less in what comes back, and more in opportunity cost. Moving, say, Laughton/Risto/EJ/DLo/Hath opens up some roster spots (maybe not all for kids, we might take some cap ballast back), and moves four salaries off of next year's books. That gives us options to call some people up, give other players more ice time and more opportunity to play up in the lineup, we get some lottery tickets back even if they're not the best, that's even more money going into the big cap increase years, there's a ton of value we can get, even if the trades themselves don't look like amazing stuff.

And that's without the team taking a big F off swing and trading a TK or Sanheim. If we did one of those, then we'd be talking about some real meaningful assets, but we all know that's not happening.

I see what your getting at but there is a cost associated with making moves and getting players out of here who don't fit...salary retention, losing draft picks etc... Also who are ya gonna call up? It's not like anyone is being blocked in the ahl at the moment.

Well, let's go with some hypotheticals. Say we trade Risto to Toronto. They'll need to move salary to fit him, so let's go with Risto for David Kampf, Nick Robertson, and some picks. Then Laughton to, IDK, Columbus. They've got all the cap space in the world, so let's go with that being picks only. EJ for a 7th to I don't care where, I've seen Montreal fans ask about DLo before, so ship him off there for nothing, and Hathaway, let's say back to Washington for Eller and a pick.

Now, that's 5 guys out, 3 back, so we open two spots, Kampf is the only salary sticking around, and we have something like this:

Foerster-Cates-Brink
Kuzmenko-Couturier-Michkov
Tippett-Poehling-Konecny
Robertson-Eller-Pelletier
Kampf

Sanheim-York
Seeler-Drysdale
Andrae-Zamula
Ginning or Grans

Ersson
Fedotov

So, looks like I did my math wrong, because I forgot about Kuzmenko and Pelletier. Once Poehling and Tippett are healthy again, we actually end up sending down Gaucher and Abols in this scenario, and opening a single spot for Ginning or Grans. Could potentially waive Kampf and bring Abols or Lycksell back.

In this world, Robertson is a "let's see if he fits" pickup who can be let go if he doesn't, Eller expires at the end of the year, Kampf is the only one sticking around, and he makes half what Risto did, so he's basically salary retention on Risto.

If Flyers got Dobson but decided to keep Risto for next year:

Sanheim-Dobson
York-Risto
Andrae-Seeler (who the f*** ever at 6)

That is honestly not the worst. I like the general mobility and it's not the worst D core in the league.

Seriously, Tippett should be pushed hard over Konecny to be traded. Konecny is a much more reliable player and Tippett's age could also help move it. Plus, if Tippett is LT-IR, it could also mean to help the Islanders cap situation this year.

Foerster-xxxx-Michkov
Pelletier-xxxx-Konecny
Cates-xxxx-Brink

Honestly, I had a hard time going below the top 6 because the Flyers forward situation is so f***ing stupid and bad. Even for next year, it's going to be ugly as shit.

I have zero interest in going after Dylan cozens if I'm being honest, now Noah Dobson id be all over, I wanted us to draft him in his draft year, and he's been really good, only 25, id definitely offer up tippett and some picks to get that done

They just need to get the best players possible regardless of position. Can’t be passing over a potential Kucherov or Tkachuk just because he doesn’t play center. They will be bad for some time and the opportunity for centers and Dmen will be there in the next few years. Just draft BPA to get the pieces before trying to mold the team. You can always trade players. I would lose all hope if the Flyers had a chance to draft Martone and picked Frondell, Cootes, O’Brien, or whatever centers are there

They'd have to go out of their way to not come out of this draft with a center with a top6 pick.
Martone may have pace issues.
