Rumor: Things Not Left Unsaid 3 - Flyers Rumors and Media Mentions: Never Ending Circles

Flahrsy and the brain trust essentially put the fake rebuild on hold to push all their draft chips into 2025 because they love this draft. How often does one need to prove they’re incompetent before anyone takes notice?
Teams that have draft picks always call it a deep draft. Those without them say that it’s a weak one. Folks trying to justify their situation.

So, SJ gets a 1st for Granlund and Ceci, yet Briere couldn't make the same trade for Laughton and Ristolainen?? The Flyers are so mismanaged it's scary. What's even more horrifying is that, today, the team sits in absolute shambles... with no clear plan or direction... and the only elite talent the organization has had since Lindros is getting into screaming matches on the bench with the coach. To make things worse, the below scenario was 100% realistic for the Flyers... instead of the clown show we are witnessing currently:
  • Handle Cutter correctly and don't trade him for Drysdale
  • Draft Perreault (who most of the fans were clamoring for) over Bonk
  • Trade Konecny, Laughton, and Ristolainen at the beginning of last season and easily draft top-3 in 2024
  • Select Ivan Demidov in 2024
  • Be bottom-3 in the standings today and have a clear path at Schaefer, Misa, Hagens, or Martone
  • No Konecny extension taking up 8.75 million for the next 6,000 years
  • No Laughton or Ristolainen money on the books
  • Head into next season with close to $40 million in cap space and a young core, headlined by...
Michkov
Gauthier
Demidov
Perreault
2025 1st (1) -- Schaefer, Misa, Hagens, Martone
2025 1st (2)
2025 1st (3)
2025 1st (4) -- from Laughton and Ristolainen
2025 1st (5) -- from Konecny trade
(4) 2025 2nds
2026 1st (1)
2026 1st (2) -- from Konecny trade
$40+ million in available cap space

... Instead, the 3 Stooges (Briere, Jones, and Torts) botched a rebuild thanks to their warped and outdated obsession with winning meaningless games at all costs. This resulted in poor personnel decisions, not selling high on assets, and locking up another player (Konecny) to a long-term deal that will be regrettable in 2-3 years.

Not to mention, their only hope for an elite talent has been benched multiple times, scratched, and is now exchanging verbal bombs with the coach publicly on the bench. And, the way it's shaping up...

Most (or all) of their draft capital will be wasted on reaches, or players with modest talent who "play the game the right way" (which is code for: "They will be safe mid-level contributors with little risk of busting completely")... and a large chunk of their available cap space will likely be overspent on players like Sam Bennett ($9.75 x 7 years) who fit the ^ above description but are close to seeing their game decline massively.

Oh, what could have been... yet isn't... AGAIN. But, the organ-I-zation will continue to gaslight the fans through their propaganda mouthpieces so they can raise ticket prices.

This is pretty much the funniest possible trade to follow ours
The 3 trades made after the Frost/Farabee debacle all involved 1st round picks.

So straight forward to me. As a GM, it’s the best thing you can do. After that, it’s on the players and coaches. It’s ridiculous to have one blue chip prospect this far into what should be a rebuild.

I think they are going for McDavid. He said a few times they aren’t necessarily going to go for a guy this year. They are setting up to have the most cap space in the league that would need him. It would be a very flyer thing too.

If they trade away more assets for actual return and tank this year and the next, getting McDavid could make a lot of sense. That literally may be our only hope.

I think, after they re-sign their unimportant depth players, they are going for an overpaid big 2nd pair defenseman and two overpaid middle 6 players — maybe paying for a cap dump — and they’ll slap some scratch and sniff culture stickers on them. “From the studio that brought you Kevin Hayes and Rasmus Ristolainen…..”

There’s no plot twist. They’re the Dunning-Kruger of NHL front offices. They sometimes forget how to breathe.

Throw in a bust top prospect and it’s back on brand. I guess Cutter already satisfies that point.

where's he saying this at?
Twitter. The other day he hit me with a passive aggressive "they didn't lose lol" response to it. Then told a string of people in my response that this is a deep draft and that the flyers draft well. And today posted "I've been reading a lot about this draft and it appears to fall off after pick 13-15" (which is exactly what I told him) "so I can see them stockpiling picks to use for an offer sheet. To which I corrected him and everyone in my fantasy hockey league jumped up his ass haha
