I don’t think it will be spun well by the general Authentics. I think they’re starting to get pissed.

Now our resident authentics here? They’ll defend.

It’s a tradition really.

“The Flyers don’t need to rebuild because York is a top pair defenseman, Gauthier is a future 1C, and Tippett going to break out with 40 goals. Hell, they’re a 5v5 contender now!”

Why should Briere be in a rush? He only has two tradable assets in Laughton and Risto, he's not moving Farabee (24) or Frost (25) for draft picks. So he'll either make a move at the TDL or in June, then going into the draft and listen to offers. If the right deal comes along, he can package players, prospects and/or picks.
You were right, dead. Briere held out for a cap dump and a 5'9" AHLer winger who has a decent chance of being a top-9 forward (according to the Wheeler report you quoted). That's master GM'ing right there!

Per his standards, one of them isn't even an NHL player. He passed waivers. Therefore, it's worth less than a draft pick that at least has potential to be one.

Call me crazy but I think sitting York in favor of Andrae has more to do with seeing if Andrae’s earlier call-up was a flash in the pan or if he can actually replace York. Also how the teams defensive structure and game looks without York. If Andrae performs well again and the team doesn’t look any worse, I think York is the primary piece in a center trade.

Has he played his last game for the Orange and Black?

This also goes to moving Drysdale with Sanheim when Zamula went out.

Seeler and Johnson are a horrid pair, but this allows Briere to see various combos, and if Drysdale is ready for "prime time" or has to continue to be sheltered on the 3rd pair with a veteran.

And there probably is a size quota, b/c York, Andrae, Drysdale aren't elite - so they may not want too many good but not elite smurfs on the ice at the same time.

If a small guy has elite skills, you can live with his size, if he's just efficient, lack of size can become a problem against physical teams like Vegas.

Given the Flyers gave away two strong trading assets for not very much quality, what could a trade for Pettersson look like now?

One or two of Luchanko, Bonk, York, Tippett?

A combination of 1sts and 2nds?

What a strange misuse of Frost and Farabee in a trade.
