You/they can say they've had Laughton on the block all you want, but I know, you know, deep down inside, Laughton was/is never going to be traded. It's ok to admit it
Oh he’ll be traded but it’ll be when his value is at the lowest.

We’ll add that to the list of examples of this happening and we’ll be gaslit.

Time is a flat circle.

Why didn’t they just make Laughton the Captain?

Giving it to Coots was asinine when he’s broken now anyway.

The thing that struck me was how much during the ESPN call the other night, both guys were not only fellating the Flyers, but also Laughton, and how much of a culture asset he is. It wasn’t even subtle. It’s clear Jones and co have been propagating that through their usual channels.

"Flyers have indeed received calls this season asking if they would be willing to move Ristolainen. The answer from the Flyers is yes — if there’s a certain price met. They would want a good prospect or young player in return or a combination of a prospect and a pick."

LeBrun says Jets, Johnston says Stars as a destination

Pretty much non existent chance they trade him.

Every now and then, and it’s very rare, you see an angry Risto come out that seems to want to hit absolutely everyone and his skating/puck control seems to be amplified. There was game about a month ago, and I don’t even remember the opponent now, where I thought he was excellent and not just the steady 4/5 guy that they seem to be trying to cultivate. Physical, but still breaking up plays and not leading to odd man rushes and getting aggressive in the offensive zone. Not sure why it’s so rare to see him that angry, but if you could capture that Risto, then I can see why some people may be tempted to think a playoff Risto would be of worth. I guess there are a few players that suffer from the same inconsistency though, and that’s simply what separates the good from mediocre.

Sure, you can argue they've had anyone and everyone available. Whatever.

But when Briere and Jones state any team looking to acquire Laughton is going to have to overpay, well, he's not really available for a trade then, is he?

Almost like it's just a charade to sell to gullible fans to pretend they're doing stuff and rebuilding, when in reality they aren't

Laughton is the 4LW, he's expendable.
However, I think Briere would feel far more comfortable moving him if Rizzo shows he's 100% and Gaucher keeps improving.
Because if there were to be an injury, Gardner, Abols or Richard at center could be ugly.

If it was a rebuilding season as you insist..it really doesn't matter

He’s been expendable two years after he was drafted. He’s always been a decent player that does just enough to not get yelled at.

If Ristolainen and Laughton are still Flyers by the deadline, Briere will make Hextall look like Sam Pollock.
Which coach/gm was in place when JVR walked for nothing?

In all seriousness I want Laughton with Michov until March. Pump Laughton up to a 50 point pace player and trade his backside.
Risto- gm's are mind numbingly stupid when it comes to physical d-men. You will need to retain/ take back bad contract but don't overestimate hockey gm's intelligence.
Noah "Messier" Cates is on a heater. He is definition of fall in like but don't fall in love with player.

For a player like Ristolainen or Laughton, I would like to think that Briere could be more creative than simply "How much can we get for him?" Make whatever package you need to get a potential 1C or 1-2D with the 1sts and 2nds and/or prospect wingers.

Narrator: sadly, he thought Briere had the capability to be creative
