It's one thing for the dinos running the team to overrate their glue guys, but why the hell does a media member like Kurz have to be such a sucker for their best-lockeroom-in-the-league narrative?

I love how one of his questions to Jones started with "the term culture is used a lot in the hockey world..." as if any othet franchise has been as fixated on it as this regime.

I think he’s definitely a jock sniffer type but at the same time I also just think he’s a f***ing idiot & truly believes the archaic stuff too.

Flyers fans: We need top-6 C’s to help Michkov development
Also Flyers fans: Nooo you can’t trade picks and prospects until 2035 cause Michkov doesn’t hit his prime yet!!!!!!!!
Nobody has said that.

What has been said:

1. Offload vets, particularly those whose primes don't line up with Michkov's, for picks and prospects, particularly those whose primes do.
2. Let young guys play to see if they are worth hanging onto as contributors during Michkov's prime.
3. Any player not named Michkov should be available in the right deal.
4. Top line centers are rarely available on the open market, your best bet is to find them in the draft, hence point #1.

So what vets are they offloading? Theyre notntrading Laughton, Johnson, Seeler, Risto, or Hathaway bc of "culture"...a decision you support.

TK, Sanheim, and Couts arent getting moved bc of their contracts.

So what vets are they unloading?

Laughton and Risto are good bets to be gone before the draft, when depends on offers.

Seeler's ceiling was a 3rd, maybe a 4th, Hathaway a 5th, so who cares.
Johnson has no value, he won't be resigned.

TK and Sanheim aren't being moved b/c they're the veteran anchors in 3 years, find a SC winner without a few key veterans.

Couts is unmoveable.

I think you're confused? Pretty sure @ajgoal is not a "culture" guy, in any sense, really.

They talk about Laughton every TD. It's "As the Flyers Turn" He’s well on his way to be Simmonds 2.0, but I honestly would be surprised if they ever dealt him. This org values loyalty, and returns it too much. I like that Snider wanted to build a family atmosphere, but they take it too far. It also makes it easy for them to make lazy decisions instead of hard ones.

Yeah, I got nothing here.

I don't disagree that you want a good, tight locker room where guys respect each other enough to be able to give and take criticism, and take it to heart without flipping out. But you know what breeds that? Winning. Not whatever the hell this organization is doing.

They've had Laughton on the block, but with a lot of young players added to the roster the last couple years, they wanted a critical mass of the "right" veterans to guide them (not TDA!).

But at this point, it's time for players like TK and Sanheim to step into leadership roles.
It's harder for other players at this point, b/c they haven't solidified their role as core players yet.

Moving Laughton to 4LW makes him expendable b/c he's easily replaced by Richard or Lycksell in that role. Problem is they don't have someone else who can move to center in case of injury.

So the timing may depend on the progress of Gaucher and Rizzo in LHV. If they're confident one of them can fill in for a stretch, they'll be more willing to move Laughton at the TDL, otherwise they may wait until June.

They took Laughton off the table out of "fairness" for what he "deserves," does not say "they've been trying to trade him."

They reject all offers that aren't eye-blistering overpays.

They aren't actually trying to move him.

Love how you just make shit up from thin air, that you have no idea of knowing, and just type it into existence. You're fully committed to the bit, I'll give you that.

Sure, you can argue they've had anyone and everyone available. Whatever.

But when Briere and Jones state any team looking to acquire Laughton is going to have to overpay, well, he's not really available for a trade then, is he?

I wonder if they think the same with Risto? Will they really trade him before Hunter MacDonald is ready? We know they fear a small D core like the plague

They have been, for quite some time.

Moving Laughton to 4LW makes him expendable

Moving Laughton down the line-up happened because he's the worst LWer on the team and kinda sucks in general at center. What you seem to be missing is Laughton has been expendable for years on end now.

Problem is they don't have someone else who can move to center in case of injury.

LOL. Please, they don't actually care. Despite the enormous black hole at the center position, Torts healthy scratched one of his few centers and played Richard for four games. Remember?

So the timing may depend on the progress of Gaucher and Rizzo in LHV. If they're confident one of them can fill in for a stretch, they'll be more willing to move Laughton at the TDL, otherwise they may wait until June.

Trading anyone in this organization does not hinge upon Rizzo or Gaucher in the least bit.

You/they can say they've had Laughton on the block all you want, but I know, you know, deep down inside, Laughton was/is never going to be traded. It's ok to admit it
