Rumor: Things Not Left Unsaid 3 - Flyers Rumors and Media Mentions: Never Ending Circles

That was also the team that lucked into the playoffs, so maybe it's similar to the Montreal team that slipped into the finals during the COVID years.

The teams the next two years were better regular season squads, but without Pronger they didn't go deep into the playoffs.

They were picked as Finals favorites up and down by the media before the season. It's the last time we went into a season with consensus among the fanbase being "this is a definite Cup contending season."

It's not remotely like Montreal.

From the guy who said we shouldnt care Michkov got scratched bc we get the pleasure of watching Owen Tippett every night. Dude thinks tippett is the star of the team...

And blowing our assets on a 31 year old is beyond stupid.
Agreed. But, trading a young player, top prospect, a 1st and 2nd for a 31-year-old is exactly the type of move the Flyers would make. It's also why they still haven't traded Laughton or Ristolainen... and why they extended Konecny in the first place instead of dealing him for a massive haul of younger assets.

Historically, the Flyers never have a well-thought-out plan that's 3-to-5 steps ahead... they always play for the moment even when their words speak differently.

If they truly had a vision, their main goal would have been securing a Hagens in 25 and McKenna in 26... not trying to sneak into the playoffs with vets who should have been jettisoned ages ago.

We don't mention the T word around here nor do we talk about the R word. You don't want certain posters to bring up the team with the cloven hoof mascot do you?

Show me a trade where a very good but not great forward (TK coming of last season), got traded for a "massive" haul. His last 3 seasons at ES, 42, 40, 52. Which is very good, but not franchise level.
Meier is probably the closest comp, 1st, 2nd, "B" prospect (Zetterland who turned out better than expected) and some cap moves.

The kind of move Holmgren would make - there has not been a single rumor about Flyers interest in Miller, Nelson or any other veteran center. Briere is looking for a young center.
