They Were Canes Once . . . and Young (well, some of them)

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
he’s a poor man’s Warren Foegele.
He's got more tools than Foegele, and Foegele isn't some sort of great toolbox guy himself.

Gauthier is the biggest tease. He has size, he has speed, he has a shot, he's got decent hands, he looks great in practice and pre-season.

When the game starts, he seems to have no clue where to be and he doesn't use his physical attributes. Foegele is out of position often and makes bad reads, but the guy just hustles his ass off to make up for it. Gauthier doesn't do that.

Foegele also periodically had "wow" games using his speed and strength.

SMH @ Francis' 2016 draft of Bean and Gauthier versus what was available.

Then again, we probably wouldn't have Svetch if they had drafted better.

James Wisniewski died yesterday. 40 yo, cystic fibrosis.

edit: please read the posts below. I can't find anything that would indicate this is true. I'm still curious as to what I heard on the ABC broadcast of the Avs / Pens hockey game.

Is this another don’t believe everything you read test?
The NHL network or ABC (can’t remember which game I was watching) said someone died and the name was very similar. But I can’t imagine a pro athlete being able to play with CF. Got to think it was someone else.

It was the Pens/ Avs game on ABC. I had it on in the background so wasn't paying close attention, but I thought I heard "James Wisniewski", died last night, and cystic fibrosis. But nothing shows up on a google search, so ? Maybe his spouse, or (hopefully not) a child? Maybe an NHL or ABC employee with a similar name? I dunno. . .

Not sure what's the best thread for this. Another Hurricanes sighting, this time by both my wife and me.

Eastgate Park we saw 4 Finns playing tennis. Aho and Kotkaniemi were the only ones I recognized. Kotkaniemi was a legit decent player. You could tell he is so athletic. Moved around fast and hit the ball when I kept thinking he had no chance. Hopefully he will have a big season.

Ah, tennis. Not a forbidden part of their contract. Don’t get hurt guys.

not exactly prospects related, more former farm-hands related...

was checking some ahl stats, and our boy andrew poturalski is leading the league in scoring.

even better? number three is honest to god no sarcasm ahl legend chris terry. with 12 more points, he'll be top ten all time in ahl scoring. given he's still a top scorer, i'm guessing he won't hang 'em up any time soon, so good for him.

copied from a unrelated thread so it doesn't get lost.
