I'm jealous of your morning tomorrow
We're going to have another 1 goal loss...
Would be nice to reunite Hanifin and TanevThat was a nice glimpse of a Kylington - Andersson top pairing
I can't believe we won in regulation too. That GWG by OK was just mind blowing. I thought we were going to make one too many passes, but holy hell. Wow.
Dallas star or Patrick star?Obviously I'm a major Dallas Stars fan
Keep doing these please, Bounces. I love reading these.Sweet bit of revenge for 2019-20 Round 1 Game 6. That one still hurts a bit. Flames kept on them and had a great third period after being frustrated offensively in the first two. Stars are a tough matchup for this club, their defense is all massive and reasonably mobile.
Great : Gonna give the key vets some kudos here. Backlund, Lucic, Tanev were all terrific in this one all the way through.
Good : Andersson I thought was solid, nice dish on the game winner. Vladar didn't do all that much but him coming in seemed to really focus the group. Lindholm was terrific in the NZ and PK, mostly just OK everywhere else. Kyller GWG was great, mixed bag before that. Ruzicka I've been saying for a while there's a mid 6 C in there somewhere.
Not bad : Gaudreau a little too stationary, was kept outside until he wasn't and scored. Coleman was throwing the body. 3rd pairing a couple adventures but physical and solid for the most part. Mangiapane go to the net score a road goal. Lewis scored a goal so that's cool.
Not good : Thought Hanifin was not very strong tonight despite his nice play on the Breadgoal. Marky didn't like the 2nd or 3rd goals, can usually tell pretty early if he's dialed in or not. Ritchie the guy is trying at least, simply out of his depth in the top 9.
Specifically on Ruzicka, I remembered a couple good plays there in the 3rd well before the Flames scored where he'd go in and establish the zone time/get it in with a smart/good play which helped set the Flames up (notable on the Mangiapane goal). Quite a few times offensively as well where he'd make a subtle nifty move before pivoting to make a play or take a shot. There hasn't been a lot to dislike from him offensively as a 4th line C. Just get Ritchie out of here so Lucic - Ruzicka - Lewis is a 100% legit 4th line optionSweet bit of revenge for 2019-20 Round 1 Game 6. That one still hurts a bit. Regardless of who's called the 3rd or 4th line there, it'd be nice to have a legit chance to argue that they have a somewhat good bottom 6. Like, imagine the type of things the Flames could do if say, Coleman is bumped down by a Giroux level player andbut Lucic - Ruzicka - Phillips is 100% a legit 3rd line option...
Lucic - Ruzicka - Phillips
Monahan - Dube - Lewis

is an actual option to run. Either way enjoy that Lucic - Ruzicka pairing going on becuase they are guys (as Sutter has said for Ruzicka specifically) can take advantage of his size to protect the puck ala Lucic, and having some type of playmaker in Phillips would open up looks for him to do more than Lewis rn
