The thing with the Russian photos,
They aren't actually colorized old photos. Prokudin-Gorski used a special camera with three lenses, each equipped with a different colored filter, like this:
Basically, it gave him three negatives of the same image corresponding to the RBG colors:
So by putting his three negatives together, we can actually see the real colors as they were
