I looked up those Paris pictures and I found a very interesting one:

Look carefully at that metro ("metropolitain") entrance.

One of Montreal's subway stations (Square Victoria) has an entrance that was donated by Paris in the 60s. I wonder if it's the same as the one in that old picture?

Great thread.

Certainly looks to me like the same sign Masao, which is pretty cool to put that connection together. Then the pictures Tarheel put up I could stare at for a long time, incredible. You think time travel might be fun and awesome until you realize the people you're about to stumble across, and their life experience vs your millennial upbringing ha.

Crazy how much clearer the skies were back then as opposed to today.

Clouds are definitely a growing scourge. Look how many more there are in those 2000s pictures.

Why isn't there a task force or UN working group to deal with this threat? They've almost reached critical mass.
