This was reportedly in pre-production 2-3 years ago iirc. At that point it was also planned to be the start of a trilogy, and all 3 games were also supposed to release within 6 years of the first one. If that's still the plan I think you could be looking at something along the lines of Mass Effect (one story over 3 smaller games). The amount of fires they had to put out for Cyberpunk post-release very likely could have shifted things around, though.

I think the Witcher 1 remake will be a massive plus for the Witcher 4 release. All the basics for Witcher 4 gameplay will have been tested in Witcher 1, so focus could be entirely on the new installments for the new game, and making sure they work as intended.

I'm cautiously optimistic about the release. I'm sure I'll like the game. I loved 3 enough that about 10 hours in, I went back and read the books and played the earlier games before returning to finish playing 3.
Halo Studios is likely doing the exact same thing with the Halo CE remake on Unreal. It’ll be a testing ground for future Halo games. I think it’s a great way to test things out while also giving us something fun to do before the real game launches.

I think it will probably be a really good game, but I don't have interest in playing it since it totally invalidates what I did in TW3.

This will be CDPR's first project using Unreal Engine rather than their own tech. I'm hoping that CDPR's tech experts can help solve some of the problems we've been seeing with UE5 games so far.
So its inevitable that the game will have bugs and performance issues on launch

One thing I forgot to mention. I was always under the impression that Ciri was not a Witcher and didn’t undergo any of the trials or mutations and all her power came from her elder blood. She doesn’t show off any of her powers in the trailer so I’m guessing it’s going to be written as she lost them, probably fighting the white frost in 3. But that still doesn’t explain how she’s drinking Witcher potions when she didn’t undergo the mutations.

I actually like the original rumor of Witcher 4 years ago which was that it was a player created Witcher taking place shortly after the conjunction of the spheres where Witchers were more commonplace

I am happy that they are moving on from Geralt. It's not because i don't like him but because i have always disliked cowardly creators that don't take risks and make their heroes retire even when it makes sense to do so.

Ciri being downgraded is easily explainable by using the ending of the 3rd game. That the event took a huge toll on her.

Not quite. Witcher 1 was made using the Aurora Engine (of Neverwinter Nights fame). They created their own engine for the Witcher 2. The Witcher 1 remake will also be using the Unreal Engine, which should mitigate some of the potential issues for this game.
That is true, I should've said it is their first game using Unreal since recently switching to it from their own engine.
So its inevitable that the game will have bugs and performance issues on launch
It's a modern open world game so most likely yes. I can't think of the last one that didn't
