in this hour of darkness and apprehension, we should taken counsel from the blind seer, John Milton.

Long is the way, and hard, that out of hell leads up to light.

This horror will grow mild, this darkness light.

Into this wild Abyss/ The womb of Nature, and perhaps her grave--/ Of neither sea, nor shore, nor air, nor fire,/ But all these in their pregnant causes mixed/ Confusedly, and which thus must ever fight,/ Unless the Almighty Maker them ordain/ His dark materials to create more worlds,--/ Into this wild Abyss the wary Fiend/ Stood on the brink of Hell and looked a while,/ Pondering his voyage; for no narrow frith/ He had to cross.

Im thinking Despres is dealt for defensive help then Letang is shipped to montreal around the time of the draft.

I hope not. But I do think Letang is ultimately traded. I just don't like how Matta and Pouliot are probably 4 years away from regular NHL players. Botruzzo kinda sucks. Are we going to bring in another Eaton to play for Letang and Despres?

Bortuzzo sucks? What?

One thing I wonder about when we speculate getting Perry vs getting a slightly lesser player is the diminishing returns.

I look back on if we had signed Hossa. No one can argue hes an outstanding 2 way winger. In cap world though you look at production and you look at a player like Neal, he is not as good as Hossa overall, but when you talk about playing with a superstar winger, will they produce about the same even though one costs much less

According to Disco via Molinari:

Bylsma, on playing Beau Bennett with Malkin and Neal: "That’s the line he is going to play with. And yes, all three periods.”

If Beau plays well on that line the next few games, IMO the liklihood we move a big asset for a winger drops considerably. Shero will make boilerplate moves and go with that in the playoffs, maybe trade for a Dubinsky type to replace Kennedy and help us deal with the Philth... and then make his offers in the summer again, possibly after extending Malkin and Letang's contracts.

I would still like to find a way to get Dupuis onto the 3rd line. Even if it's just a rental like Stempniak.

Why are all wingers being tried with malkin, if bennett has chemisty with kunitz then he can move to the second line and everything solves itself....

Kunitz is 3rd in the NHL in scoring. Why do people STILL want to move him off of Sid's wing?

I don't think many want the pens to trade Letang, but they are nervous how much money he will demand. Other teams will throw a boat load at him, if he's not signed by next years deadline, you might have to consider trading him unfortunately.

And Bortuzzo doesn't suck but people just overrate him as much as Caputi, Bourque Tangradi and every other prospect to put on the black and gold. He could be a decent bottom pairing dman. He was a solid 3rd round draft pick though, one of Shero's few good draft picks during his early years.

Dubinsky types are getting more and more expensive. not sure if it's worth expending those kinds of assets for a TK replacement. but, of course i'm all for replacing Kennedy.
