The wait is over: Nikishin is on the way

And it’s not like Nikishin is some pimply faced 20 year old kid. He’s a fully mature (coming 24 this year, right?) man.

Absolutely. I haven’t thought of him as a prospect in a couple of years, he’s too old imo to look at him like that. He’s a grown ass man. I’ve struggled when our board brags about him compared to other prospects or about rankings on lists. The guys he’s being compared to are usually 18-19.

He’s a rookie for the NHL with zero experience being probably unfairly expected to be good in a playoff game, but at the same time he’s hardly inexperienced overall. Makes it a tough call for RBA.

This was all a moot point last night when AHL Chicago’s season ended.

Tulsky was completely transparent that they were just keeping options open, because signing the contract would close that door. As soon as Chicago’s season ended, the contract was registered and signed the following day (today).

Look upthread where I said almost 24 hours ago that this would happen today. Then it did. It wasn’t some last minute thing, all parties relevant to the conversation knew what was going on.

So his other agent has gone rogue for what reason? What purpose would that serve the agent to do that if everyone is on the same page and Nikishin will for sure be playing in CAR for the foreseeable future (at the time the agent made the statements)?

Seems like the Russian agent was just speaking what was on Nikishin’s mind because the American one would never do that under any circumstances.

You guys can dismiss this if you want, but it’s pretty telling that there’s always complications, snags, and shenanigans when it comes to any and all negotiations between CAR and star players.

No, it just makes zero sense. You realize that this guy still represents Nikishin, right? He would NEVER make public comments like that without Nikishin being on board with it, not even in Russia.

Even if their professional relationship was completely severed, which it isn’t, he wouldn’t do that. Burning bridges with former clients is a terrible idea from a business standpoint, and would only make future potential clients wary of working with him, even in Russia.

You insisting that he went rogue because of “sour grapes” is legitimately hilarious, and is blatantly obvious that it’s just because you want to pretend there aren’t issues with how your team’s front office approaches any and all negotiations with star players.

Again, these type of difficulties and shenanigans from CAR as an organization are well known, and this is far from the first time.

At this point, they don’t get the benefit of the doubt.

What difficulties or shenanigans?

They held off signing the ELC in order to keep the option of a possible AHL assignment to keep him warm while he waits to make his debut. When the AHL option went away, they signed the ELC. Nothing was difficult about this. Nikishin and his NHL agent were on board, and there hasn’t even been a suggestion of it being an issue from their end. Nikishin gets paid the same either way.

The entire thing comes from an irrelevant figure making noise to the media. And the NHL agent made a statement basically telling that guy to get back in his lane and pipe the **** down.
