I have been following the Oilers since 1994 when it was extremely difficult to get information about the NHL in Europe (mind the internet was in its infancy at this point). I have lived through the darkest periods, I have waited until midnight to catch BBC International reports of the Stanley Cup playoffs (ca. end of 90ies) when we would put off some miracles (defeating Colorado once and the epic defeat of the arch-nemesis Dallas Stars), the 2006 cup run broke my heart (I was a young adult at this time and fully invested), the aftermath was disastrous (Pronger trade,...), like with a lot of you hopes were high when we drafted all those first overalls (Hall, RNH, Yakupov) and I was always thinking this is our time... Turns out we needed another miracle and McD and Drai entering the scene, I watched their early beginnings in Gotheburg at the NHL Global Series and felt that our time was coming up for real. The thing is, you turn older and other priorities also come up (family, job responsibilities, etc...) and last years Game 7 loss was defeating but not devastating for me. Still, I want to see my childhood dream fulfilled and who would deserve a Stanley Cup more than Connor and Leon? The two Cup runs I experienced so far (2006 and 2024) I always abstained from buying some merchandise when we won the conference. I just felt that it would no be worth to invest in some gear that should be replaced by the ultimate fan gear some weeks later. So this year I anti-jinxed it: I just bought a Western Conference Championship T shirt
