The time for the Finnish Five is nigh

5 players are a unit not a line.

Btw, I was told by countless Stars fans not long ago that Lindell was absolutely useless and without Heiskanen they couldn't go anywhere.
Lindell is a defensive specialist and an absolute animal at shot blocking and on the PK, but it's kind of true that the Stars would have big trouble with puck movement in Miro's absence if not for Thomas Harley developing and taking that role. You could really see it with Team Finland in the 4 Nations: I love the smiling warrior that Esa the goal surpressa is, but he can't handle the puck moving role Heiskanen has.

Still, if anyone claims that Lindell is useless, they are wrong and I will fight them for it! *angry OJ face*

Nobody ever said this. You may have heard useless with the puck on his stick, because he is. But useless is not a word anyone uses in regards to Lindell in his entirety.

Some of your fan group definitely talked him down and said he wasn't as good as he used to be, it seemed partially to bump up Heiskanen's overall value. Dallas should probably be careful not playing Miro too much coming back from injury, it's not easy to just step into the playoffs cold. –2 last game.

Possibly but maybe 3 time Selke winner Jere Lehtinen had something to do with it.
Yeah I think the emerge of Lehtinen did have affect on that.

North Stars was always big on Finnish players (well European as whole). In early 90´s they had former Oiler scout Matti Väisänen as European Scout and they did draft Lehtinen (Lind and Varvio too). Dallas quickly moved on from Väisänen and at some point did not have European Scout at all. They drafted their first Finn (Teemu Elome) on their 5th draft. Then the emerge of Lehtinen and hiring Kari Takko (former North Star player) as scout revived the old Minnesota-Finland connection. Takko has been working for Dallas for 25 years.

The Sportsnet feed showed a brief graphic of the total number of Finns any franchise has had, and Dallas led the way with....35, I think, all time.

that would be a fun sporcle quiz

22, not bad? giving myself bonus pts for niskanen and goligoski, who jusging fromtheir names are finnish-americans? both are minnesotans, another kind of player that the dallas franchise consistently stockpiled—weirdly long after moving from minneapolis.

Love the quote. That's an original, right? :sarcasm:

Finns are just so likeable. I'm cheering for Edmonton, but I'll be A-OK if Dallas wins. Just like last year.

That is pretty impressive for non Finn. Numminen, Lumme and Niinimaa are nice catches because they had short stint. I had few hour flight and tried to remember the rest. Got Mattsson, Helminen, Grönstrand, Sinisalo, Siren, Lindgren, Helenius, Rynnäs, Hyry, Hakanpää and Vatanen. It seem that there were 34 total so missed one. Had no recollection of him playing on Dallas even it was fairly recent.I let others guess that If they want.

Kolikoski might be a Finnish name, but Goligoski is 100% Polish…
